Rich wins Celebrity Apprentice Sunday, May 22, 2011 – John Rich is the newest Celebrity Apprentice. Donald Trump announced Rich as the winner of NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” over runner-up Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin on tonight’s live season finale in New York City.
In tonight’s episode, Rich shocked Matlin, pulling his “Trump card” and making “The Celebrity Apprentice” history as the first ever apprentice to bring in additional money in the finale. Rich added an unexpected additional donation of $250,000 from Dollar General and Reckitt Benckiser and $25,000 from The Melting Pot, which was delivered to him during the show’s final task for 7UP.
As the newest Celebrity Apprentice winner, Rich received the $250,000 prize for his charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The show's charity earnings for the season totaled $3,120,852 - the largest amount ever raised by a TV series.
"Today has been an unbelievable day," said Rich. "I got Trump to put on a Stetson hat on national television and now I g,et to drive down to Memphis with a $250,000 check for St. Jude Children's Hospital. This entire experience has been for the kids, and I'm so excited to raise money for this cause and help save lives. Everyone, please purchase the song For the Kids. All of the proceeds will go straight to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital."
In the final episode, Rich performed his new song For the Kids, the title track off his new EP.

OFFSTAGE: Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson Flash a “Fake I.D.”
06/10/11, 6:30 pm EDT
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
If you've ever had a fake I.D., then you can probably identify with the 1984 movie, Footloose. And if you remember that original version, then you are going love the remake because Big & Rich's new song, "Fake I.D.," has a starring role. They performed it on the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night (June 8), along with their pal Gretchen Wilson. It was so good to see them back up on that stage together after kind of doing their own things for a few years. They started the song at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, then somehow magically appeared onstage at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena across the street. The gist of the song is "Hey mister, won't you sell me a fake I.D." But don't think that John Rich, Big Kenny and Wilson are encouraging underage drinking. This time, it's all about just getting into bars to hear the bands they've been dying to see. The song is at country radio, but you have to wait until October to see the movie, which stars Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid and Andie MacDowell. Maybe Kevin Bacon, who starred in the original, will make a cameo in this remake. A girl can dream.
