Hi Miranda,
Life is good here in Texas.
How are things in your neck of the woods?

I'm doing okay. Have been really busy with work the past few years. I didn't know this board was still in operation.
What have you been reading Jo?

Miranda,
So far today I've read the Sunday comics and part of my Real Simple magazine. I'm also reading Stuart Woods new book "Insatiable Appetites" and I need to swing by the library later today because my hold for JD Robb (Nora Robert's) new book is in...this one is "Obsession in Death".
I've also become hooked on reading the online SCOTUS blog (Supreme Court of the United States).
Folks have continued posting on this board all along but I missed a whole lot of it myself. I've been back online for a ...not sure how long...a little while. I took a couple years off from the internet...rebooted my life. Reversed my diabetes, improved my asthma, took up walking 3 miles a day again.
Let's see, since I last talked to you son graduated from college, he had moved back home for a year so he could do an unpaid internship at MD Anderson Cancer Center but he's moved back out again now. He lives with his girlfriend/fiance....they've been together 7 years now...since she was 16 and he was 17. He's now on the payroll at MD Anderson but it's only part-time so he still works at the UPS distribution center too. Though he has been promised a full time job at MD next month if the research money comes through.
My mom is in a nursing home now. She lost one of her legs to diabetes last year.
Hubby is still sober. Still works at the same place. ....and I still be lovin' me some cowboy music....that'll never change.
Who are you listening to these days? What are you reading?

Well, I've been reading a lot lately. I'd slacked off some because I've been so busy, but recently I read The Godfather, a prequel to that, and then some other books by the Godfather author. Here lately I've been listening to Blackberry Smoke (southern rock), the latest Kid Rock album and I'm waiting for the new Toby Keith. I saw something that said it was supposed to come out a few weeks ago but as far as I know it never did. My personal life is basically just work. I don't have much else going on. LOL

I'm not familiar with Blackberry Smoke but we got rid of cable tv and I quit listening to mainstream radio a couple or three years ago. Since then I've just been following along with what comes up as newly released albums on Amazon and seem to follow Texas artists more and more. I do still follow the artists I already knew from when I listened to mainstream. I've been waiting on Toby's new album too. : )
I really like Krystal Keith's debut album. She's so much like her dad.
You know how I feel about Kid Rock...I think he's a good guy. I saw him on Triple D (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) not so long ago. I'm sure it was a rerun but it just was another reminder of how he gives back.
I've never read the Godfather books or even seen the movies. The movie came out when I was 12 and by the time I was old enough to watch it, it was an old movie and I just never saw it.
I'm glad Michael looked you up on Facebook and you found your way back here again. I was just mentioning you on the Musical Memories thread a day or so ago ....Michael was telling how he met Harlan Howard and I remembered you said you were related to him.
As for having a calm personal life....I'm a homebody myself and give me music I love and books I'm interested in and I'm a happy girl. : )
....and this board reminds me so much of the easy sharing of music and conversation that was so much a part of my young adult life. No one in my neighborhood had air conditioning so we'd all sit outside in the evenings, listening to music and relaxing together. Each person had different favorites but that was part of what made it interesting. The whole turtle soup analogy...or maybe that's older than you are....but it goes like this...if your going to make really good soup, someone will bring the carrots, someone will add the potatoes, another person will bring the tomatoes (I personally think you need tomatoes to make good soup)...and then you put it all in the pot together and let all the flavors blend and in the end you have really good soup to enjoy. If you only have carrots in your soup, it's not nearly as tasty.
Now that your here again, you can add your carrots into the mix. : )

Hi Miranda...glad that you made it!
For some odd reason face book is way too fast for me.
Seems that when you post something and later it's gone.
I like this place...kindsa like a good song.
Here is a tune that sums this place up.

Jo, I do have Krystal's album. I haven't listened to it much, but I think she is a great singer. I haven't been listening to the radio either, but of the newer singers I do like Chris Young. You should listen to Kid Rock's First Kiss album. Several of the songs on it are country. It's one of his best.
Thanks for the video Michael LOL
P..S. I don't remember having said I was related to Harlan Howard. Maybe you are thinking of someone else?

Miranda, A senior moment on my part...entirely possible, Kid's new album sounds interesting...I'll check it out. I like Chris Young though I haven't really listened to him lately. Been stuck on Aaron Watson.

I bought Chris's Neon album over the summer, but I don't have any of his other ones. Can't find them in stores anymore. I may have to buy some from Amazon.

I usually shop for music on Amazon now....it's hard to find anything in the store anymore. Or at least not what I'm looking for.
Looking at my Ipod I have 4 CY albums...not sure if I've missed any or not without looking it up. I have A.M., CyCy, The Man I Want to Be and Neon. I always enjoy them when I listen but I usually listen to my Ipod on shuffle unless I have new music to listen to.
Have you gone to Ipod yet Miranda?
I'm frustrated because they quit making the Ipod classic and the newer versions have much less storage for music.

I've had a Sony Walkman MP3 player for about five years now. I buy CDs and copy them to the music player. I've still got a good Sony stereo system in the house that plays CDs, and I still listen to them in the car. I listen to the MP3 player while I'm at work. I've got over a thousand songs on it.
