George is like Kitty Wells. Both are bedrock country with careers that spanned decades.
Garth is like Webb Pierce. Webb charted more #1 hits in the 1950's than any other country artist. He was the most recognizable face of the era of extravagant country music spending. You may have heard of his guitar shaped swimming pool and his silver dollar lined matching convertibles. The music faded and he became known for his excessive lifestyle.
Garth has always gone big. So did Webb.

I have read some articles lately where some singers complained that YouTube was cutting into songwriters' profits. I personally think it is a great way to preview music BEFORE PURCHASING. What do you think? DISCUSS I've seen NO evidence Youtube has hurt musicians' profits - on the contrary what I've noticed is Youtube has helped spur sales.

I would say it has probably helped as well. I dont know how many albums it has sold, but my guess is that it has sold a bunch of digital downloads.

I just googled this: diymusician.cdbaby.com/2012/02/what-you-need-to-know-about-making-money-from-your-music-on-youtube/Did you know that you can now earn money from your music on YouTube? The video streaming giant is fast becoming one of the most popular music-discovery platforms, but it’s not only a great site for PROMOTING your music; YouTube has also turned into an essential vehicle for driving independent artist revenue. With CD Baby’s sync licensing program, you’ll can get paid for the usage of your music on YouTube– and not just in your own videos; over 60 hours of new video is uploaded to YouTube every minute. That’s a lot of people who need good tunes to match up with the cuddly cat videos and wedding slideshows they’re posting. Our partnership with music licensing firm, Rumblefish, will make your music available for these new income-generating opportunities on YouTube. We have two sync licensing options at CD Baby (All Media and MicroSync), both of which give you have the ability to get in on the action. sidenote: CD baby is a place where I've ordered CD's in the past. They represent independent artists and you used to be able to type in your favorite artist and they'd give you suggestions for artists who were similiar. Haven't done it in a long time.
