This came out earlier and probably got lost in the CWO board crash, but it's still nice to read. Just one cowboy tonight George Strait makes RodeoHouston history with special concert in 2013 It seems like we should rename March as "RodeoHouston month," that's because the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo just keeps getting bigger than ever. For 2013, organizers have announced that the event will add an extra day, extending from February 25 through March 17, making for a full three weeks of rodeo mania. For the first time, the final day of the rodeo will not feature traditional roping and riding event, but instead have a special full-length concert starring George Strait, along with opening acts Martina McBride and the Randy Rogers Band. Other rodeo attractions — the carnival, shopping, food, livestock and horse show and other exhibitions — will all remain open for the March 17 event, with the concert tentatively scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. “George has had a lot of special moments in the 30 years since he first appeared at the Show,” chief operating officer of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Leroy Shafer said via press release. “I remember the day we flew him in as a replacement act an hour before his performance. He took the stage and quickly stole the hearts of our Rodeo fans. And, George has been here for all of the show’s major milestones since that first performance in 1983. We are extremely excited that he is going to close our 2013 Show with this special concert.” With no rodeo events, Reliant will offer stadium floor level seating for the March 17 concert, with tickets starting at $150 and going on sale in January. Rodeo season ticket holders will have to purchase additional tickets for this special performance. Other marquee concerts in the 2013 RodeoHouston schedule will be announced in December, and the full line-up will be released in January 2013. houston.culturemap.com/newsdetail/05-10-12-17-47-george-strait-makes-rodeohouston-history-with-special-concert-in-2013/

Thank all of you for posting all the reviews about George. I'm going to miss them when he quits touring. Kora, you have GREAT seats in Vegas! How do you get so lucky? Jane - It's always fun when George tours and we can post concert reviews and photos. I'm really excited about Salt Lake City. I broke down and got a seat through a broker. Read what I replied to Tina in the message above. I thought you'd have your avatar by now?

Thanks for posting this Kora...this was a show that I regret missing. It was only 4 hours from me. I am looking to catch him in Little Rock...only 3 hours away...don't care for the venue though. I sure wish he would come to Tulsa...that place is too cool!

Here's a possible Country Weekly magazine I voted for. The other one didn't have George on it. I know I gripe a lot about George being on the cover so much...but in reality he is the best country artist of all time and deserves it. I still gripe about the forums closing...I need to do something about that. I miss all the folks...ole sentimental me I guess.

nashviller - Hope you make it to Little Rock. He won't do concert tours after 2014, so you need to see him. There nobody like George. LOL! I'll see him in SLC on Friday and again in Las Vegas Feb 2. In the videos I posted, I noticed he talks more and uses a stool at times to sing some older songs. He doesn't usually do this. Some of his older songs are up there on my fav list.
I know your feelings about George being on the CW covers. Don't worry about it. They must put him on there because he sells copies. You know, it's all about money. LOL!
I miss the old CW forums, too, but it looks like they are down permanently. Maybe they don't have the money or manpower to handle it.

I think by closing the CWO forums has made Country Weekly irrelevant...it was a unique forum where you could build something substantial...Some of the threads were very good and a lot of work went into them. I don't know if The Taste Of Country is a spinoff...but they should have put George in the contest...maybe they knew that he would have won. If anyone here wants to vote there...here is the link...

They really manipulated the contest so that Taylor can't win....Scotty beat Brantley...then matched both of them up against Taylor. I think that they knew that if George was in the competition he would sweep it...and rightfully so!

From Country Aircheck
Let's Fall To Pieces Together
For George Strait fans, it's the beginning of the end, so it's understandable if they get a bit nostalgic during the Cowboy Rides Away Tour. What attendees at the first show in Lubbock, TX Friday (1/18) might not have expected was a bit of the same from Strait himself. "He talked more and told a lot of stories from early on," our insider tells us. "He did songs I'd never heard him do, too. 'Blame It On Mexico,' for example"
Beyond the historic atmosphere, some lucky fans were able to experience "The King's Tavern," a pre-show reception showcasing Strait memorabilia. And George himself brought Marine Lance Corporal Christopher Allen onstage to award him with keys to a new home through the Military Warriors Support Foundation's Homes 4 Wounded Heroes program. Twenty homes will be given away at upcoming shows. Joy eventually turned to melancholy, however, when the show ended with, appropriately, "The Cowboy Rides Away." Many in the sold-out crowd were in tears. "People seemed heartbroken," we're told. "It was just a very emotional night

Singing "Honkytonk Crazy" in Oklahoma City, last Friday, Jan 19. This is from his 1982 "Strait From The Heart" album. I love it that he's sitting on a stool when he sings the old songs. Also, the Aces are so good backing him up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-u2h3KNuY3Q&list=UUCf5SNQYQzXzowE9F9_aL4QHe's trying to sing it like he's in a honkytonk. LOL! The sound could be better, but I love it.

Honky Tonk crazy is one of my favourites. But then again, all of them are one of my favourites!

Tina - I love a lot of his older songs. I'm glad he's doing some of them in this tour. I never get tired of his entrances. LOL! Here he is in Lubbock on Jan 18. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkBpXcNGMII"Where The Sidewalk Ends" from Pure Country. I don't remember his doing this in concert. Some of these videos are blurry and the sound's not that great and the people are too loud for us to hear him well, but that's ok. LOL! www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmMGerjysl4&list=UUrMnnS28CqZVmoqnYZzDiFA&index=10"The King Of Broken Hearts" - This one is closer up and the sound is better. It's a little over a minute and just part of the song. Too bad it's not the whole song. I could listen to this song all day long. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvqEZNHkBugNow, this is country! Oh, here's one I found that's a compilation of quite a few songs a guy on the third row put together. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUElZqByBUQ&list=UUrMnnS28CqZVmoqnYZzDiFA. Again, here's "I'll Always Remember You" www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1FROwFxYPsYou can hear the emotion in his voice. I'm going to miss that man in concert. The Aces are outdoing themselves in these two concerts so far. The older country songs are responsible for their special effort. I've been looking for "Folsom Prison Blues," but haven't found a video of it yet. He does it in his encore.

Woman burned in explosion will see George Strait after allJanuary 23rd, 2013 @ 10:15pm SALT LAKE CITY — A woman horribly injured in a house explosion has been fighting to recover in order to attend the George Strait concert this Friday. Now, not only will she be able to see Strait perform, she'll be getting a lot more than she bargained for. Laura Lee Sheehan, a tremendous George Strait fan, had tickets for the concert at EnergySolutions Arena on Jan. 25. But an explosion in her home five months ago left her both badly burned and confined to a wheelchair. She is still undergoing treatment for the injuries she sustained in the disaster. Being bound to a wheelchair made it impossible to attend. She purchased tickets, but the wheelchair accessible section was already sold out, leaving her without a way to watch the show. She put out a call for someone to trade tickets with her so she would be able to see her country music idol first hand. KSL covered the story Tuesday, and within minutes there were dozens of offers to trade with Sheehan. But she'll be getting even more than she asked for this Friday. EnergySolutions Arena has offered to accommodate her in a wheelchair accessible section, just like she needed. Not only that, George Strait himself also learned of her situation and wants to meet Sheehan. That will mean the world to Sheehan, since it would be very hard to find a more die-hard fan of Strait. Not only does she have every album and know every song, she has a life-size cutout of the famous singer in her hospital room at the University of Utah burn unit. See news video here along with this article. www.ksl.com/?sid=23837425&nid=148&s_cid=rss-extlink
