www.terriclark.com/terri-clark-to-release-10th-studio-album-classic-on-january-29-in-us/TERRI CLARK TO RELEASE 10TH STUDIO ALBUM ‘CLASSIC’ ON January 29 in US NEW ALBUM FEATURES DUETS WITH REBA, TANYA TUCKER, DIERKS BENTLEY AND OTHERS January 28, 2013 (Nashville, TN) – Country superstar Terri Clark will release her 10th studio album, Classic, on Tuesday, January 29. The first song shipped to country radio is the classic hit “Golden Ring” with Dierks Bentley joining her on the George Jones and Tammy Wynette smash. With more than four million albums sold, Clark exploded onto the country music scene in the mid ‘90s, with a unique style heralded as ‘turbo traditional’. Since then the multi-platinum, award-winner has had massive success at country radio and CMT, with hits like “Better Things To Do,” “When Boy Meets Girl,” and “Northern Girl,” to name a few. Classic spans four decades of timeless country music, and conveys a history of country classics – the deeper you delve into the album, the deeper you find its roots go. It is a Terri Clark record with the spirit of the music that made her who she is. “I tried really hard to pick a song or two from every decade from the ‘50s to the ‘80s,” says Clark. “This is the type of project I’ve wanted to do my whole life and it represents so many things for me. My family roots, the Opry, my influences, and many of the songs that make up the fabric of country music.” The result is an album that bears the stamp of influences from heroes – Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Emmylou Harris, whom she covers to Tanya Tucker and Reba, who each join Clark for duet versions of their hits “Delta Dawn” and ”How Blue” respectively. Also lending their talent and voices to Classic are friends Jann Arden, Dierks Bentley and Dean Brody. “The guests on the album are people who’ve influenced me or people I’m a fan of, as artists,” comments Clark. Tanya Tucker was the first guest to sign on for Classic, reprising her 1972 smash and fellow Opry star Dierks Bentley joins her for a remake of the George Jones and Tammy Wynette tale, “Golden Ring.” Classic Track Listing: It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels Love Is A Rose How Blue (duet with Reba) Gentle On My Mind Don’t Come Home A Drinking Leaving On Your Mind (duet with Jann Arden) Golden Ring (duet with Dierks Bentley) Two More Bottles Of Wine Delta Dawn (duet with Tanya Tucker) Swinging Doors Movin’ On (duet with Dean Brody)

blog.gactv.com/blog/2013/02/08/gac-album-review-terri-clarks-classic/GAC Album Review: Terri Clark’s Classic Those looking for what traditionalists call country are hereby requested in the listening room. On her tenth studio album, Terri Clark – the Alberta, Canada native with a Music City soul – dishes up 11 of the genre’s most cherished possessions on a strikingly heartfelt collection. The aptly titled Classic, now available in the states after a Fall Canadian release, draws on songwriting riches including hits such as Loretta Lynn’s “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)” and Glen Campbell’s “Gentle On My Mind.” Yes, they’ve long been revered as country standards, but when Terri sings with fiery passion on the former, Many a night I’ve laid awake and cried here all night long, simultaneously scorned and lonely, she injects infectious new energy into the songs with an immediate impact. Backed by a band that includes such Nashville A-list session players as Brent Mason (electric guitar) and The Time Jumpers’ Paul Franklin (pedal steel), Terri moves decisively through the project that aims to pull two classics from each decade starting with the ‘50s. After setting the mood with an antique recording of Terri’s own grandmother covering Kitty Wells’ “The White Circle On My Finger,” Terri launches into Kitty’s 1952 masterpiece, “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels,” thrusting headlong into the tune’s timeless story. Too many times married men think they’re still single, she sings with a conviction and technical prowess that quickly establishes the skill to handle the material. And on the Delbert McClinton-penned song Emmylou Harris made famous, the low-end gear jammer, “Two More Bottles of Wine,” Terri’s inflections and tones show off a compelling sincerity. Terri’s joined throughout the project by a series of guests spanning Nashville to Canada. Dierks Bentley plays George Jones” to Terri’s “Tammy Wynette” on the pawnshop Honky Tonk, “Golden Ring,” and Tanya Tucker guests on “Delta Dawn,” a song Tanya released herself in 1972. Canadian artists Dean Brody (joining on “I’m Movin’ On”) and Jann Arden (on “Leavin’ On Your Mind”) both make their presence felt with stirring performances, especially on the latter that was made famous by Patsy Cline. However, it’s the combination of Reba and Terri on “How Blue” that steals the show. Originally released on Reba’s 1984 album, My Kind of Country, this version of “How Blue” showcases a stunning chemistry between the two, demanding that they work together again in the future. Terri packs a suitcase full of heartache into the 37-minute collection. On “Swinging Doors,” originally written and released by Merle Haggard, she sings, My new home has a flashing neon sign, with palpable regret after being kicked out of the one with a bed. But throughout it all, it’s her clear love for the works she chooses that gives the record a fresh sound. Even on the album’s most optimistic song, the Neil Young-penned “Love Is A Rose,” her deep respect for the writing comes through in her graceful melodic ease. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the songs on Classic, because even though we may have heard these songs before, Terri’s powerful performance captures an exciting spontaneity, bringing new life to the collection. Key Tracks – “How Blue,” “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels,” “Two More Bottles Of Wine,” “Leavin’ On Your Mind”

flyinshoes.ning.com/profiles/blogs/terri-clark-classic-humpheadTERRI CLARK —CLASSIC (Humphead) Canadian Terri Clark has been making music, good country music for almost twenty years, her music as ever possesses great vitality on Classic. An album of covers, Classic was a good choice by Clark and one where she rose to the challenge —that of doing the oldies proud. Weaving her way through the 11-song set Clark keeps the music varied, as she drops in on songs made famous and in some cases written by traditional country acts Kitty Wells, Hank Snow, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, George & Tammy, Tanya Tucker to go with Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell and Reba (McEntire). And if that weren’t all, Tanya and Reba drop by to join her for on covers of ‘Delta Dawn’ (and the combination works great, Tucker sounding a great deal better than I have heard her recently) and ‘How Blue’ respectively. Clark also duets with current hot act Dirk Bentley on George & Tammy’s big hit ‘Golden Ring’. The fun doesn’t stop there either, as Dean Brody lends vocal support on Hank Snow's ‘I’m Movin’ On’ and you have Jann Arden lend support on Cline’s heart tugging ballad ‘Leavin’ On Your Mind’, and though not my favourite of hers the duo do a fine job of the lazy, piano and steel guitar warmed number. Clark ever since she started out showed a love of the uptempo songs and takes big time to the likes of Loretta’s ‘Don’t Come A Drinkin’ (With Loving On Your Mind), powerful ballad ‘Golden Ring’ (that her and Bentley pile it on) and Ronstadt’s ‘Love Is A Rose’ plus a smoking ‘Two More Bottles Of Wine’ (plied in the fiddle of Stuart Duncan, piano of John Hobbs and steel guitar of Paul Franklin plus lead guitar, boy doesn't she kicks butt). Others of note include her sensitive reading of Campbell’s ‘Gentle On My Mind’, written by the late John Hartford it shows the other side of Clark as draws on her experience for all she's worth. What a fine track!

www.cowichannewsleader.com/entertainment/191853491.htmlTerri Clark digs deep into her roots A blast from the past may just be what folks checking out country chick Terri Clark at the Cowichan Theatre Saturday are in for. The country icon, who made her debut at the Cowichan Theatre in 2009, will be strumming tunes from her latest album, Classic, including country staples Love is a Rose, Gentle on My Mind, Leavin' on Your Mind, and How Blue. Clark's Classic spans four decades of country music and conveys the history of several of the genre's hit songs. "It is a Terri Clark record with the spirit of the music that made her who she is," Clark's promotional material reads. "After nearly 20 years since I started my first studio album, it’s always exhilarating to finish another one, however this one was special to me in so many ways," explained Clark in blog entry. "Family, Opry, Tootsie’s, and a tribute to the artists that inspired me. Having Reba, Dierks, Jann, Tanya, and Dean share in that joy brought it all together in so many ways, and reminded me once more why I began this love affair with country music 30-plus years ago in the first place." The result is an album that features influences from heroes Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Emmylou Harris, whom she covers to Tanya Tucker and Reba McEntire, who join Clark for duet versions of their hits Delta Dawn and How Blue. Also lending their talent and voices to Classic are Clark's buddies Jann Arden, Dierks Bentley and Dean Brody. Clark's March 9 performance will be her second time gracing the Cowichan Theatre's stage. Clark and cronies received stellar reception from a packed house as well as "10 boots out of 10" from NLP arts reporter Peter W. Rusland during her debut. "Backed by a kick-arse band of pros — who might have issued albums of their own — Clark gave the packed house a taste of her homespun humour, compassion and might musical talents," wrote Rusland in his review. "...It was perhaps Clark's touching tribute to her cancer-survivor mom — who was in the crowd for her daughter's island exclusive — that registered most with Cowichan fans," he said of Clark's 2009 appearance. Clark's eighth studio album Roots and Wings released in 2011 includes the track Smile, a song she wrote for her mom after she lost her battle to cancer. Clark's numerous albums have accounted for more than 20 singles, including six chart-toppers, If I Were You, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, Emotional Girl, In My Next Life, Girls Lie Too and You're Easy on the Eyes. Saturday's stage will be warmed by country chicklet Kira Isabella. Your ticket What: Terri Clark, with special guest Kira Isabella When: March 9, 7:30 p.m. Where: Cowichan Theatre Tickets: $45. 250-748-7529.
