The NFL has suspended New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton for the entire 2012 season with loss of pay. In addition Saints GM Mickey Loomis is suspended for the first eight games of 2012 and fined $500,000. Former Saints D-coordinator Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinately, and the Saints organization forfeits second round draft picks in 2012 and 2012 while being fined $500,000.
The suspensions come from a league investigation that Williams ran a "bounty" program in New Orleans and elsewhere where players received several thousand dollars if they delivers a hit that knocked an opposing player out of a game; the "bounty" was higher if quarterbacks were knocked out.
