Kora,
I love Neil. I have all of his music. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to Neil late at night, with the lights off and my eyes closed. His voice is magic.
This one used to be my song, when the album was new. : )

Kora,
I've always thought it was so interesting that Neil and Barbra went to the same high school and yet have such widely different speech patterns.

Jo - I didn't know they went to the same high school. I knew Barbra was born in Brooklyn of Jewish parents. I just looked up Neil and found that he, too, was born in Brooklyn of Jewish parents. Small world! I think high school can affect speech patterns, but family upbringing, culture, social and financial status, etc. can really make a difference. Don't really know, but love 'em both.

Neil attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn from 1954 to 1956. Barbra graduated from there in 1959. There are actually a lot of well known people from that high school. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erasmus_Hall_High_School#20th_centuryI saw a special a few years ago where Neil walked around his old neighborhood in Brooklyn. People there really didn't know who he was or that he was famous but they were all nice to him. He was his usual self-quiet spoken, friendly, laid back. When one guy asked him what he did for a living he said he was a singer and didn't elaborate...talked more about the neighborhood.

Jo - Interesting about unassuming Neil when he returned to his old neighborhood. The more I hear his songs, the more I like him, of course, his early songs.
nash - Nice Avril, except when she hits those little high notes.
