I am wondering what you folks think about comebacks...like Garth...Shania...Tanya.
Are they doing it to pay the bills or because of the love of music?
So is it...for the love of money...or the love of music!
Oh yeah...this is a poll....
You can vote up to three times...unless you vote for another...in that case???

Garth does not need the money, but needs the public adoration, which seems to be plentiful, no matter how long he has been gone. He will be a success because the public is enamored with him. Wonder if they will still receive him with open arms when he's 70!! LOL! I liked the early Garth and have seen him perform once, and that's enough.
Shania hasn't had much success returning to Vegas. She has been gone from the public eye too long, and not a lot of country fans like her. Unlike Garth, I hear she could use the money. I have always liked her, have seen her in concert, but never considered her country.
Tanya, I have always liked her gravelly voice and her spunkiness and wish I could have seen her perform. Don't know about her financial situation, but a comeback will not work for her. Country music has moved on and does not include the music she loves, and the younger audience goes along with new country, which is pop, rock and a little rap.
I don't know anyone else who plans to return. Maybe some of you can fill us in.

Though he is an Okie...I think he went the way of Hank Jr...a bit full of himself. Shania...gives me pause...I sense a lot of sadness and betrayal in her spirit. She need to either tap into these emotions and write some new stuff or fade away. Tanya...Tanya...Tanya...I would travel 90 miles to watch her...probably at a casino. If you really want to get discouraged check out the artists at the casinos lineup.

Talk about a comeback...Madonna made the cover of Rolling Stone ....again!
Not to be outdone...country music has it's own powerhouse kid making a comeback!
Reba...
What gets me is that there are only a little over 200 thousand views compared to millions on Madonna.
Reba is the Leader of Country Music right now...very good hands to be in!!!
Going Out Like That

Let's see....I got Garth's new album at the used book store a while back and actually got around to really listening to it last week. I can see where he was going with it, trying to hit all the markers for mainstream, but...come on Garth....your songs used to be gold....lasting gold. In fact, I just heard "The Thunder Rolls" on the classic country radio station today and stopped to listen yet again. I didn't have that urge a single time with his new album. His lead single from this album, "People Loving People" sounds more tired and disillusioned than a infectious enthusiasm. I will give him that it's a hard time for Obama fans and Garth has cancelled concerts recently because he said he didn't feel he could give a concert when people were upset about what had happened in Ferguson, Missouri.
So, the clock will turn once again and I'm sure Garth will make another album but I'm not feeling it with this album. Sorry Garth...I have all your music.
Shania has already announced that this will be her farewell tour (though we all know that Cher has had how many farewell tours??) ...so I don't think Shania is looking for a comeback as much as she feels the need to tour once more so there's a feeling of finishing. Maybe I'm wrong but it feels that way to me.
Tanya I adore and always will...does she have new music? Did I miss that?

Michael,
Reba's definitely in the inner circle. She's Kelly Clarkson's mother-in-law. Her step-son (and Kelly's husband) manages Blake Shelton.

She has certainly maintaned a level of success...moreso than Madonna.
I am looking for Brooks and Dunn to reunite...duos are wide open...Gosh there is a lot of artists that are returning.
I think Tracy Lawrence is making a comeback.

Woohoo...new music coming from Tanya. Now that just made my day Michael. : )
B&D were always great together....good apart too. Love Ronnie's solo albums and Kix is always a hoot. Liked his solo album.

Liked his solo album. Tanya is really hard to follow...her fan club page says...coming soon! Jo I can see why you like her...she has very few pretensions...she is who she is. Most of the country folk that I liked had this in common...you either liked them or loved them. I don't remember all the non likers back then...just good ole music...from good ole people. That is the reason that James Otto should be included into the Opry...along with so many more "characters".

Back to Tanya though...
Country legend Tanya Tucker is preparing for a new tour and album this year after signing a new album deal with APA Nashville. It will be her first album since her 2009′s My Turn.
Tucker took a few years off from her music career, but she now feels ready to get back into the swing of things.
“I’ve taken a few years off and it is time to get back on the road,” she explains. “I am really excited to perform all the hits that the fans love so much, and sing a few new songs that I have been working on.”
In recent years, Tucker struggled with depression, but credits music for helping pull her out of the darkness. “It’s my music that really saved me,” the legend notes. “When people hear these songs, they will
know [they] came from my heart.”

I see where Dwight Yoakam is opening for Eric Church...the crowd is saying ...who is this dude.
Dwight loves it because it reminds him of when he first started...that challenge to prove himself all over again.
Lord knows that I personally know how that feels...I stopped doing that in 2011...I have only myself to prove things to now.
Strange how I set the bar so much higher...when I have to prove things to myself.
The bar that society has set for me is work until you are seventy...retire...then die.
The Bar that I have set for myself is...retire as soon as I can...then live.
I know that a lot of folks have to work until they die just to survive.
But by golly...I have never missed a day at work...weekends ...holidays...whatever.
Whilst I watched and heard folks say...hell... I wouldn't Dooooo that.
Well...I see how high their bar has been set...they still haven't reached it yet.
Like Dwight...I want to be where I am...proving myself over and over and over.
