nash - If you walk 90 miles to see Tanya, let me know and I'll walk with you. One of my biggest regrets is not seeing her perform in person.
As for Garth, he has always been a marketing genius and comes across as your good buddy or your next-door neighbor, while he's raking in millions. Remember when he used to come backstage and surprise the fans. He would come up to a fan and say, "Hi, I'm Garth Brooks," using his home-type facial expressions and actions and he wouild have all of them in the palms of his hands. That is one of the reasons for his hugh success, IMO. In country, it seems that when you're a fan, you're a fan for life, usually. Of course, I think he was really good in his early days. After that, I was not interested.
As for Reba - She just turned 60. I really don't think she has a comeback in her. She still has lots of fans and has had a great run. I'm one of them, but am getting tired of her, and I think her voice is changing. I think she can still do concerts and she will appear at awards, etc., as long as she can, but what I would call a comback......No!
Jo - I have always been a Tracy Lawrence fan. Saw him in a small venue. Gary Allan opened for him. I like him, too. It's too bad Tracey's actions damaged his career when he was near the top.

I wonder how Garth's comeback is working out. Is his new album selling well?

Miranda,
Garth's album has been out 5 months and has sold just under 607,000 copies in the US and 8500 in Canada. It sold 119,000 on it's debut week.
He's released two singles from it. "People Loving People" made it to #25 on the US Country chart and to 104 on the US chart. His second single was "Mom" and made it to #49 on the US Country chart but didn't make it onto the US chart.
It's pretty much a straight rock album with a couple of country songs thrown in but then that's what mainstream is these days and Garth always leaned rock anyway.

Kora,
It's always been hard for me to get past Tracy's past actions. I've tried but along the way it was just one of the things I walked away from.
Gary Allan was one of my top 5 favorites for years and years and years but his music changed in recent years. I kept buying his albums but found myself hardly listening to them. Still love, love, love his earlier stuff.

Thanks for the update Jo. I know Garth's live tour was sold out. He played two shows in Lexington, Ky., and they were both sold out. I think people still want to hear the old hits, but have little interest in his new material. I personally think Garth made a huge mistake when he "retired." Too many other male singers stepped up to take his place in the first few years after that (Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney) who would have always been second to Garth if he hadn't quit. Garth's fans simply moved on to other artists because they got sick of him teasing them with a song or two here and there with no promise of a new album.
I'm sorry but I think Garth has gone off the deep end anyway. A couple years ago he did a live show from Las Vegas that was televised on CBS. He was higher than a Georgia pine. He was downright manic and if he wasn't jacked up on drugs then I don't what the problem was. He even dropped the F bomb at one point on BROADCAST TELEVISION and the censors could not bleep it out. I ran it back two or three times to make sure I heard it correctly and I had. I was shocked that Garth was acting so openly NUTS on television.

Jo - I know how you feel about Tracy's actions. It is tough to get past them.
Miranda - I agree that Garth has gone over the top. I saw his live Vegas show recently, and he was on a stool and Tricia joined him. I've always thought Garth feels he can pull off whatever he wants and use his affected, down-home actions to make it happen. His "being your friend" and "always being so surprised and so thankfrul" drives me crazy. I remember an interview with Crook & Chase and he was picking lint off his shirt and pants the whole time.

I wonder how Garth's comeback is working out. Is his new album selling well? I think the consensus on Garths comeback is...comeback?

Kora...If I have 90 miles to go...I'm gonna need a horse. 90 miles is a long way to walk...so count me out...but it is Tanya...count me in! As for Reba...she just turned 60 and is the bomb...awesomely hot! Saw her on Nashville last night...she is not going out like that. I never really was a fan...but I am now...Reba surpassed Dolly in my own lil book!

nash - That's funny how the two of us are going in reverse directions. I'll always like Tanya. Reba hot!!! LOL! If you say so. LOL! I don't know why I'm tiring of Reba.

Oh Kora...Kora...Kora....How long have you had this issue about not identifying heartness? Years ago folks would tell me how hot Reba was...I wouldn't say anything...which spoke volumes. Then the plane crash...the movies...the business woman...as good as Dolly ever was happened. I think what I find attractive about Reba now is her confidence...her never say die attitude. To me that is pretty freaking sexy...good basic fundamentals in people are hard to cultivate. They need to be entrenched in a person from the beginning...hard honest work is always a guide. Reba is special...she has all of this and more...plus she is purty!

Reba has had a long, successful career--and I applaud her--and a lot of nips and tucks. That's ok cause that's what she wanted to do. I've seen her perform at least four times. That's enough for me.

Michael, Did you read Reba's book? www.barnesandnoble.com/w/reba-reba-mcentire/1111593190?ean=9780553572384The short version is, she had a working poor childhood, an early marriage where she wasn't treated well. She then married her current husband who used to be the steel guitar player in her band. She and her husband are very religious....and I do mean very religious. Growing up, she'd be so tired on horseback, out working on the ranch that she'd fall asleep on the horse...but they kept on working. They had to or they weren't going to make it. With her first husband, he came into the marriage with a lot of debt from his first marriage and they had nothing...nothin'...and they ranched and worked and she did the rodeo and sang. Hard work, against the odds, has been her life.

Reba's sister, Susie McEntire is a successful Christian music singer.
