Nominees for the 2015 CMA Awards were announced on Wednesday morning (Sept. 9), and there was a big surprise among the familiar faces that grab nominations each year. Chris Stapleton grabbed three early nominations, but Little Big Town led the way with six!
Steven Tyler and Kelsea Ballerini announced five categories of nominees during a visit with Good Morning America on Sept. 8. Tyler also performed his debut country single, “Love Is Your Name” before moving to the television show’s website to announce the remainder of the CMA Awards nominations.
Three veterans who had big mornings were Kenny Chesney, Eric Church and Miranda Lambert (five, five and four nods respectively), but the story is the newcomers. In addition to Stapleton’s three, Maddie & Tae, Kacey Musgraves and Sam Hunt all racked up three CMA nominations. Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan scored two each.
The 2015 CMA Awards will take place Nov. 4 in Nashville. The 8PM ET broadcast will air live on ABC.

Some of my new and old favorites on the list... I hope they do well.
I just read this week that Maddie (of Maddie and Tae) is from here in Sugar Land.
Now there is Katie Armiger, Maddie, and Rachel Turner all from our 'burb.

For the most part these nominations are horrible - same old, same old - very disappointed.
My choices are in blue below:
Entertainer of the Year
Garth Brooks Luke Bryan Kenny Chesney Eric Church Miranda Lambert
Album of the Year (Awarded to Artist and Producers)
Old Boots, New Dirt, Jason Aldean Pageant Material, Kacey Musgraves Pain Killer, Little Big Town The Big Revival, Kenny Chesney Traveller, Chris Stapleton
None of the above
Female Vocalist of the Year
Miranda Lambert Kacey Musgraves Carrie Underwood Lee Ann Womack Kelsea Ballerini
None of the above
Male Vocalist of the Year
Dierks Bentley Luke Bryan Eric Church Blake Shelton Chris Stapleton
Vocal Group of the Year
Lady Antebellum Little Big Town Rascal Flatts The Band Perry Zac Brown Band
Either Lady A or The Band Perry - don't care for any of the others.
Song of the Year (Awarded to Songwriters)
“American Kids”, Kenny Chesney (Written by Rodney Clawson, Luke Laird and Shane McAnally) “Girl Crush”, Little Big Town (Written by Lori McKenna, Hillary Lindsey and Liz Rose) “Like a Cowboy”, Randy Houser (Written by Randy Houser and Brice Long) “Like a Wrecking Ball”, Eric Church (Written by Eric Church and Casey Beathard) “Take Your Time”, Sam Hunt (Written by Sam Hunt, Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally)
Any of them except Sam Hunt - haven't cared for him since his bitterness towards Keith Urban!
Vocal Duo of the Year
Brothers Osborne Dan + Shay Florida Georgia Line Maddie & Tae Thompson Square
None of the above
New Artist of the Year
Sam Hunt Maddie & Tae Thomas Rhett Chris Stapleton Kelsea Ballerini
Single of the Year (Awarded to Artist and Producer)

My first choice is Talladega - Eric Church - but again - anything but Sam Hunt!
Musical Event of the Year
Django and Jimmie, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard “Lonely Tonight,” Blake Shelton feat. Ashley Monroe “Raise ‘Em Up,” Keith Urban feat. Eric Church “Smokin’ and Drinkin’,” Miranda Lambert feat. Little Big Town “Wild Child,” Kenny Chesney with Grace Potter
At least Keith got one!
Music Video of the Year (Awarded to Artist and Director)
“Biscuits,” Kacey Musgraves (Directed by Marc Klasfeld) “Girl Crush,” Little Big Town (Directed by Karla Welch and Matthew Welch) “Girl in a Country Song,” Maddie & Tae (Directed by TK McKamy) “Little Red Wagon,” Miranda Lambert (Directed by Trey Fanjoy) “Something in the Water,” Carrie Underwood (Directed by Raj Kapoor)
Musician of the Year
Sam Bush, mandolin Jerry Douglas, dobro Paul Franklin, steel guitar Dann Huff, guitar Mac McAnally, guitar
Definitely recording this as there will be a lot I won't be interested in that I can fast forward through. Should amount to about 15 minutes viewing time!

Not much to say about the CMA award show this year...
It sure has went downhill since they put up all these barbed wire fences in the name of pure country.
Chris Stapleton won a bunch and is deserving ...but it is also patronizing to grant so many nods to him.
The CMA seems to be saying..."look how cool we are to give awards to a cool hippy looking guy".
What happened to Jamie Johnson and all the other deserving hiphats?
I just coined that term...hopefully it won't catch on...Chris Stapleton is a great songwriter and he should have won...long ago.
But they just can't help but giving the big award to Luke Bryan who even forgot to recognize the only woman nominee...
Miranda...he mentioned all the others but forgot her? Maybe but they seem to all be so self absorbed.
If the youngsters can't handle country music I think that the elders need to take it back.
Do we not have enough talent in country music to fill in the blanks...sure we do...
we should quit pandering to other genres and support more folks of color who play country music.
In the 60's and 70's we had all sorts of folks who were different yet the same...
not the same of the same only accepting the same.
Song title: The same of the same of the same!
