Link: tasteofcountry.com/eddie-montgomery-son-dies/Eddie Montgomery’s son has died. The Montgomery Gentry frontman shared the news on Sunday morning (Sept. 27), saying he appreciated the outpouring of love and prayers as he and his family grieve. Nineteen-year-old Hunter Montgomery died on Sunday after spending multiple days on life support in a Kentucky hospital following an unspecified accident that occurred last week. “My son Hunter went to heaven today,” Montgomery says. “I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye.” Hunter is the youngest of Montgomery’s kids with ex-wife Tracy. Together they had four children, including daughters Brooke and Candace and oldest son Kevin. One of Montgomery’s sons helped him detect prostate cancer while it was still treatable. In 2010 the boy was in a four-wheeler accident and while Dad was at the doctor for his son’s treatment, he complained about his hip. Doctors did an X-Ray and discovered a shadow. Montgomery was declared cancer free one year later. Hunter’s death continues a string of bad luck for the larger-than-life country singer. The cancer came around the same time the duo split from Sony Nashville and Tracy served him with divorce papers. He’s since filed for bankruptcy and watched his restaurant close. In April 2014 the 51-year-old married Jennifer Belcher. They have no kids together. Funeral arrangements are pending. According to a post on his mother’s Facebook page, Hunter became a father this year, welcoming a little boy named Bennett. Montgomery Gentry released their Folks Like Us album in June via Blaster Records.

This was posted by Eddie's ex-wife (Hunter's mother) after the media wouldn't respect their request for privacy.

.. When a family asks for privacy, there is a reason. Grieving the loss of a child is the most heart-wrenching experience any parent can imagine. It defies description. Since the media refuses to respect our request for privacy, I'm taking another route in hope that we might get some peace for our grieving, and more important, in hope that Hunter's story might help others. Our son died of an overdose. We believe it was accidental and will continue to believe that. We know that he needed help. Maybe Hunter's - and our family's - pain will help another family avoid this. Not a day will go by without our missing him. Now that your curiosity is satisfied, please have the respect to stop hounding us. Instead, take our story and use it to help others. 'If quoted, this statement is to be used in its entirety.'

^^^ To me, she was crazy to think that her wishes would actually be respected. Sadly there is no such thing as respect anymore not when it is asked for anyways.
God bless you and the family always!!!
Holly
P.S. The only favor that the media ever sets out to do for anyone is a favor for themselves.
