Rascal Flatts Remembers the Moment They Made It By Sarah Wyland gactv.com Rascal Flatts photo courtesy of Big Machine Records. For every artist, there’s a moment when they know they’ve made it. For Rascal Flatts, who’ve had many moments from major award wins to a string of No. 1 hits in their 11-year career, that moment came some time ago when they made their debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage. “What was weird about it was the kids were lining the aisles and standing up front, which I had never seen before,” said Jay DeMarcus. “I think it was right around the time when “I’m Movin’ On” came out, and we sort of saw our sales and our popularity and visibility go from next to nothing to huge all of a sudden. And I think that was a time for me that I stopped and went ‘Wow! We’re doing something special here, you know?’ Not just a couple of Top 10 singles, we’ve got one that was really impacting people now.” Their latest single, “I Won’t Let Go,” is striking a chord with fans too.

Rascal Flatts Receive CRS Humanitarian Award
Giving back is a huge priority for Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus, Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney. Their charitable efforts range from helping fight hunger to the prevention of teen suicide to involvement with organizations such as Make-a-Wish, the American Red Cross and the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, where the bandmates have given so much of their time and money that they have an entire wing named after them. The trio's tireless community service was rewarded this week at the annual Country Radio Seminar, as Rascal Flatts were named the 2012 CRS Artist Humanitarian Award recipients.
"It's a little uncomfortable to be recognized for something we feel we should be doing," says Jay. "We have been so blessed with an amazing career, to pay the blessings forward seemed the most natural thing to do."
Somehow, the guys have also found time to put together a new album, 'Changed,' to be released April 3, along with a huge headlining tour in support of the music. Additionally, they're prepping a clothing line, a signature fragrance and the opening of their own restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.

Rascal Flatts Explains Their New Documentary
Rascal Flatts will re-lease their new album featuring their latest single “Banjo” on April 3rd. Two days later, on April 5th, their new theater event—a mix of high-energy concert & in-depth documentary—Rascal Flatts Changed, will be in theaters nationwide. Jay DeMarcus explains, “This is our own documentary that we spent the last few months putting together and doing extensive interviews about everything from growing up in broken homes to how we got started in music to right now and things that have happened in our lives that changed us.” The one night only event will give fans a chance to get to know Gary, Jay and Joe Don individually, which Jay says, “is kind of neat, be-cause most of the time we spend a lot of time focusing on the band but … I think that people are gonna really see a lot of different sides of the three guys in Rascal Flatts during this 90 minutes.” Tickets for Rascal Flatts Changed the movie are on sale now through FathomEvents.com.

Rascal Flatts Cancel Weekend Shows Due to Illness
They might reign on the country charts, but the award-winning singers in Rascal Flatts aren’t immune to falling ill. The popular trio have canceled this weekend’s shows due to a rough bout with sickness.
Fortunately, the Flatts don’t plan on leaving ticket holders to the next few shows high and dry. The band has already rescheduled the Tulsa, Okla. and Wichita, Kansas shows, which were originally scheduled to take place on Jan. 18 and 19. Now, Tulsa will take place on Aug. 10, and Wichita on Aug. 9.
The Band Perry will still be on the bill for both of the rescheduled shows. For fans who have a ticket to one of these concerts and can’t make it to the rescheduled date, refunds are available at the point of purchase.
It’s hard to say what’s got the band down for the count this week, but with the flu sweeping the country, it’s not surprising that at least one of the band members caught a bug.
In a statement on their website, the Flatts apologized to fans for the inconvenience and thanked everyone for their support.
Hopefully a little R&R will do the trick and the ‘Banjo’ hitmakers will be back on the road in no time. The most popular country stars get sick, too — even though we think of them as being immune sometimes.
