JAKE MARRIES LACEY BUCHANAN IN SUNRISE CEREMONYMon, May 7, 2012 at 7:25 AM by Matt PettyCountry star Jake Owen and his model girlfriend Lacey Buchanan are officially Mr. and Mrs. Owen. The couple, who met when Buchanan appeared in Owen's music video for "8 Second Ride" and began dating after she starred in the video for his hit "Barefoot Blue Jean Night," tied the knot in a sunrise ceremony Monday morning in Owen's hometown of Vero Beach, Fla. But there were no blue jeans on the beach. The bride, 22, wore an Amsale gown and veil and the groom was casual in a white linen Armani shirt and Tommy Bahama drawstring pants – though both were barefoot on the beach as the sun rose over the ocean. "That was my idea, because it's symbolic of the dawn of a new day and starting our new life together," Owen told PEOPLE. The sexy Owen, 30, popped the question to Buchanan on stage at his alma mater, Vero Beach High, this past April after he sang "Don't Think I Can't Love You" – a proposal so spontaneous he didn't yet have the ring he designed himself. Back at their home in Nashville, he took a knee again and proposed properly.

Jake Owen Targeting December for New Album Release
By Christina Vinson June 7, 2013 tasteofcountry.com
Jake Owen‘s Christmas wish list includes a new album, and he’s targeting the mistletoe-filled month to give himself and all of his devoted fans the gift of his highly-anticipated fourth studio album.
Owen is well into the process of getting the record out, he tells Billboard. “I’m in the middle of almost wrapping it up, actually. I’ve recorded about eight or 12 songs that are great,” he reveals. “It’s just feel-good, kind of the same thing I do, man. Just good-time, good-feeling songs. That’s the best way to put it.”
The 31-year-old singer hopes to have the set’s first single out in July, and he’s already started playing some of the new tracks live, including ‘Beachin’,’ which he calls “a ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night‘ sister song,” and ‘Days of Gold,’ which is actually a strong consideration for the album’s title.
Owen will be following the same format as his previous full-length album, and has decided to not focus on writing as much as just finding terrific songs. “I wrote everything on my first two albums, and on ‘Barefoot’ I pretty much chose a lot of stuff I liked, whether I wrote it or not, and that’s what I’m doing on this (new) record,” Owen explains.
“I’ve been fortunate with songwriters giving me great songs. It’s hard to turn down awesome songs by other people. Most of the songs I recorded are songs I found from outside, in fact,” he adds. “I’m not at the point where I care anymore if I wrote ‘em or not. It’s really about the song, not who writes it.”
Owen scored his first No. 1 single with ‘Barefoot,’ and although he does feel pressure to keep tracking with success, he’s optimistic about where things are headed. “As much pressure as it might seem like, it also takes a lot of pressure off,” he says. “Radio stations know if you’ve had three No. 1 (singles) in a row you’ve got some momentum going and people want to hear what’s next.”
Fans will certainly be vying to hear Owen’s new tunes, and he’ll be hitting the road this summer for lots of festivals and fairs. The singer has come a long way in his career, and he’s enjoying every second of it. “I’ve got to tell you it feels so good now to be in this place in my life, where people are paying attention,” he admits.
People are certainly paying attention, and will be eagerly anticipating his upcoming album in their stockings this Christmas.

Jake Owen Reveals the ‘Worst Part’ About His Hand InjuryBy: Lauren Laffer countrymusicislove.com Jake Owen made headlines earlier this month when he was forced to undergo surgery to repair his hand following a go-kart injury that took place over Fourth of July weekend. On Sunday, July 7 the “Days of Gold” singer tweeted from the emergency room to explain that he had been in an accident while racing go-karts with NASCAR’s Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer. After his trip the ER, Jake returned to Nashville where he had surgery to repair the damage to his hand. CMT recently caught up with the Florida native to discuss the accident and injury. “I flipped a go-cart,” Owen explained. “I was at my buddy’s party, and we were just riding go-carts at the end of the night on a little race track in North Carolina. Those things are fast. They top out at 70, but I was only doing about 40 when I flipped it. It was just a very, very random thing. Things like that just happen to me.” The injury was incredibly severe. “At the ER in North Carolina, they just sewed it up. But then I flew home the next morning and went to the doctor, and I had surgery right away. They basically put my fingers back on. I have 40 stitches, from the interior out. I shattered my fingers — the bones inside. The doctor said it was like taking a cinderblock and dropping it on your hand. Like it spider webbed the bones inside my fingers. So he had to suture the bones back up to even make it a bone and then put a screw in there to keep it together.” Owen kept his promise and returned to the road just days after surgery. While his fans are concerned about how the injury would affect his live shows, Jake says his mind is in another place. “All I thought was, ‘Am I gonna be OK for my wife and my little girl?’ I don’t care about my hand. I don’t. Nobody has come up to me and been like, ‘Hey, man. Sorry to hear about your hand. I bet it sucks that you can’t hold your baby right now.’ Everyone’s more like, ‘I bet that sucks you can’t play guitar.’ I can’t even hold Pearl right now. That’s the worst part about it. I could care less about guitar.” Jake is keeping fans up to date on his recovery. He tweeted a pretty gruesome photo of his hand earlier this week.

Jake Owen on Freak Accident: ‘I’m Just Prone to This’
By Billy Dukes tasteofcountry.com August 24, 2013
Jake Owen‘s hand injury is just the latest in a growing list of his injuries occurring during recreational activity that some may label as extreme. Before his block party celebration to commemorate his fourth straight No. 1 single, Owen said he doesn’t plan to reign in his adventuresome ways, no matter who asks him to. After the go-kart injury, Owen says his label CEO Gary Overton texted him telling him to think about the big picture. That got under his skin, as the ‘Days of Gold’ singer insists that’s all he thinks about.
“When you make plans for your life, that’s when life makes plans for you,” he said, according to the Tennessean. He downplayed the significance of losing a knuckle on his right ring-finger calling it a “bump in the road.”
“You just figure out (how to make things work),” he said. “I’m just never going to stop being me … I’m just prone to this kind of (stuff). I don’t know why. I wish I wasn’t.”
A short list of Owen’s injuries includes the finger; the collarbone he broke in 2012 while snowboarding; and the shoulder injury he sustained wakeboarding before his country career began. To be fair, if he hadn’t gotten hurt on the wakeboard, he’d likely have kept pursuing a golf career, and may have never picked up the guitar.

Poor Jake, he does seem rather accident prone.

When Jake appeared with Dierks he had just a little bandage on the tip of his finger. Now it looks like they did major surgery...I know of a fan who really loves him. It would seem that he would rest for awhile...he is such a trooper. At least it is his picking hand and not the chord hand. Billy Joe Shaver has played with just a couple of digets for years. Prayers are with him.
