Jason Aldean Credits Genre Bending for New Success Posted Jul 1st 2011 1:00PM by Cory Stromblad
Jason Aldean scored four No. 1 songs before spending three weeks at No. 1 with his monster hit, 'Don't You Wanna Stay,' a duet with pop star Kelly Clarkson, but the singer admits that his latest chart topper elevated his already red-hot career to a whole new level. "I feel like that song opened us up to a whole new fan base," Jason confesses to the 'Boston Globe.' "Kelly obviously is from the pop world, and when you do a song with an artist like that, there's a lot more people that are going to take notice that maybe didn't before." The digital single quickly became Jason's third song to cross the one-million paid digital download mark, with his latest album, 'My Kinda Party,' going platinum, signifying sales of more than a million copies. The Georgia native's latest collaboration with rapper Ludacris has also propelled the singer's career to new heights. After a genre-bending performance of 'Dirt Road Anthem' earlier this month at the CMT Music Awards, and a rush-released remix at digital outlets, Jason's received his first Top 10 single on Billboard's Hot 100, a chart that measures radio and download success across all genres. The country superstar is currently gearing up to resume his My Kinda Party headlining tour with Chris Young and Thompson Square providing opening entertainment. The next stop is July 8 in Milwaukee, Wis. Click here to view Jason's summer tour itinerary.

Jason Aldean Rules Mid-Year Billboard Charts Posted Jul 8th 2011 9:00AM by Theo Bark
Snatching the No. 1 country album of the year from Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum was no easy feat, but Jason Aldean has scored an even more impressive achievement with his latest CD, 'My Kinda Party,' claiming the No. 4 spot on Billboard's mid-year 2011 Top Albums (of all genres) chart. Powered by his platinum-selling collaboration with Kelly Clarkson, 'Don't You Wanna Stay,' and surprise hip-hop hit 'Dirt Road Anthem' with fellow Georgia native Ludacris, which landed Jason his first Top 10 single on Billboard's Hot 100, the genre-bending country superstar has released a chart-topping crossover smash with 'My Kinda Party.' Coming in second to Mumford & Sons in non-pop albums on the chart, Jason's fourth effort is comfortably perched at No. 1 on the year-to-date Top Selling Country Albums chart, with over 763,000 sales just this year (and over twice that since its November, 2010 release). While Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum failed to crack Billboard's Top 10, Jason's 'My Kinda Party' is the highest ranked album by a solo male country artist at this point in the year since Kenny Chesney's 'When the Sun Goes Down' notched No. 3 halfway through 2004. Continuing to build momentum, Jason returns to his 'My Kinda Party' tour with Chris Young and Thompson Square tonight in Milwaukee, Wis. Jason Aldean has credited Taylor Swift with introducing country music to a whole new generation of fans.In an interview with USA Today, Aldean praised Swift as a trailblazer for creating country music that teenage girls can relate to. "Taylor has gone out and brought a whole new fanbase to our world," Aldean commented. "All these teenage girls that might not have listened to country before, she has brought them all into our genre. Nobody else is really doing that." Aldean also said that he's very "proud" of his former support group Lady Antebellum, whose third studio album Own the Night topped the US pop chart this fall. "To see Lady Antebellum go from our opening act to just exploding like they have has been fun to watch," the singer explained. "I'm really excited for them and proud of them." Aldean recently picked up six trophies at the 2011 American Country Awards, including wins in the 'Artist of the Year' and 'Album of the Year' categories.

Jason Aldean plays ball with the Atlanta Braves(CBS/AP) KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Jason Aldean is ready to play ball. The country music star got a chance to live his other dream Thursday, working out for more than two hours with the Atlanta Braves, his favorite baseball team, while trailed by a TV reality show crew. The country star didn't make the team - with cameras rolling, Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez and general manager Frank Wren told the singer he had been "cut" after the workout - but by all accounts the former high school player held up well alongside such stars as Chipper Jones, Dan Uggla and Brian McCann. "Not bad," Jones said. "He's a little more athletic than we're used to seeing from our normal celebs." Wearing uniform No. 9, Aldean started out taking grounders at first base, scooping up a few low throws. Then he got some solid wood on the ball during his turn in the batting cage, his longest drive landing on the warning track and short-hopping off the fence. Finally, he joined the team for baserunning drills, tailing along at the end of the pack. Aldean was taping a segment for the reality show "Day Jobs," which airs on the country music cable network GAC. Normally, the show follows artists as they return to jobs they held before becoming famous, but Aldean had no desire to go back to his old line of work. "I was a delivery guy for Pepsi," he said. "That was not cool. I was not going back and doing my old job. I worked too hard to not have to do that anymore. So they said, `What about we do kind of a dream job deal with you, where you get to do something with the Braves?' I was like, `Now, that I would be into."' The 35-year-old Aldean was born and raised in Macon, Ga., about 75 miles south of Atlanta. "I've been a fan of this team for a long time," Aldean said. "I grew up watching `em. To get to come out and do this today is a big honor for me." The episode will debut on April 4. Aldean's most recent album, "My Kinda Party," received album of the year from the Country Music Association and was nominated for a Grammy. He plans to release a new album in October. Aldean is on the road this year, next stopping in Houston, Texas, on March 15.
