Randy Travis to Celebrate 25th Anniversary with New Tour

Randy Travis is celebrating his 25th anniversary in country music with a new tour. The 25th Anniversary Celebration Tour kicks off February 10 in Grand Ronde, Oregon at Spirit Mountain Casino. He will stop in more than 20 cities, including Boise, Denver, and Fort Worth plus Calgary. More shows will be announced at a later date.

“I’m surprised at how fast the first 25 years have gone by,” Randy said. “It feels like only five. There’s no better feeling than being onstage and the connection with a live audience.”

To mark the beginning of his 25th anniversary, Randy released his Anniversary Celebration duets album, which houses a combination of his biggest hits such as “He Walked on Water” and “Forever and Ever, Amen” as well as new music. Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Kris Kristofferson, Carrie Underwood, George Jones, Zac Brown Band, Lorrie Morgan, Jamey Johnson and more are featured on the album.

Randy Travis Officially Charged With DWI


Last August, Randy Travis was arrested for suspicion of DWI – reportedly while naked — after driving his car into a Texas construction site. Yesterday (Jan. 10), Travis’s blood-alcohol test came back and he will now be formally charged with driving while intoxicated.

On August 7 Travis was picked up for suspicion of DWI, as well as retaliation and obstruction, after he allegedly crashed his car and “verbally threatened” a police officer. At the time, the ‘Three Wooden Crosses’ singer refused to take a blood and breath test. A search warrant was issued for his blood.

Apparently, the country crooner would have failed the sobriety test, because the results are in — and Travis was far from sober on the night he was arrested. According to an NBC affiliate, Travis’s blood-alcohol content level was higher than 0.15, which makes the charge a class A misdemeanor. That can land the singer in jail for up to two years, and cause him to be fined up to $4,000.

“The case has taken some time because of blood tests that have been completed by both the prosecution and the defense,” Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown said in a news release. “The parties have also been actively negotiating on resolving the case, and we anticipate that we will resolve the matter in a short time period.”

So far, Travis hasn’t commented on the arrest, which came during a year of getting into trouble in the public eye. After the 2012 Super Bowl, the country singer got into an argument with his girlfriend and was spotted drinking alone in his car in the parking lot of a Texas church. He was charged with public intoxication. He’s also had legal trouble with his ex-wife. In May, he claimed she sabotaged his career.

Blake Shelton Brings Randy Travis Onstage in Texas

Blake Shelton saw Randy Travis watching his set at the Off the Rails Country Music Festival in Frisco, Texas on Saturday (April 23), so he did the only natural thing.
Shelton grabbed Travis by the hand and brought him on stage to give fans a chance to shower the newly-elected Country Music Hall of Famer with applause. The “Came Here to Forget” singer also heaped praise on Travis, telling him how influential he was in his career as the 56-year-old stood smiling, taking it in.
That wasn’t the first time Travis was recognized during the Off the Rails Country Music Fest. Earlier Chris Young had cameras turn toward the “Three Wooden Crosses” hitmaker, according to Guide Live. Shelton kept the mini-tribute going with a song in Travis’ honor. His band began “God Gave Me You,” and throughout the star urged the crowd to cheer for Travis. Together they celebrated the miracle that kept the legend alive and fueled his rehabilitation.
It’s been a good month for Travis. During the March Hall of Fame announcement ceremony in Nashville, wife Mary told how close the singer came to death. She admitted doctors suggested pulling the plug at one point, but she went to Travis’ side and urged him to keep fighting. She’s quite sure he heard her, and from there, his comeback began.
At the same event, Travis spoke publicly for the first time since his 2013 stroke. He said “thank you” to fans, friends and the Hall of Fame. Fred Foster and Charlie Daniels were also announced as inductees on that day.
Other performers for the 2016 Off the Rails Country Music Festival included Eric Church and Sam Hunt. This summer, look for Shelton at Country Jam Colorado on June 18, and Church at WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn
