Taylor Swift Invites Fans To Rehearsal Taylor Swift announced today that she is taking the unprecedented step of opening the last dress rehearsal for her Speak Now Tour to fans as a fundraiser to benefit victims of last week’s deadly tornadoes in the Southeast. 13,000 fans will get a first look at Taylor’s new show almost a week early, as Taylor is inviting them to attend “Speak Now…..Help Now!”, her final tour rehearsal, on May 21st at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, a benefit for tornado victims. The North American portion of her Speak Now World Tour 2011 kicks off on May 27th in Omaha, Nebraska. “I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage,” says Taylor. “I’ve never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now Tour would be a great way to raise money. So, tickets will be available for people to come see us in the Bridgestone Arena, where we’ve been rehearsing for the last five weeks. “We’ll probably still be doing some fine-tuning to the show that night, since this will be a true rehearsal,” she says, “but I feel like it is so important for me and my fans to help if we can.” Ticketing information and “Speak Now….Help Now!” event details will be available and updated beginning Monday, May 9th on www.TaylorSwift.com. 100% of ticket sales will go directly to help tornado victims. Taylor Swift's Elaborate New TourBy Kay West May 27, 2011 people.com Taylor Swift Christie Goodwin Sparks fly, snow swirls, dancers in black cat suits swing like clappers inside huge bronze bells, and a white grand piano rises out of the floor in the new Taylor Swift concert tour kicking off Friday night in Omaha. "The tour is exactly how my imagination looks and I'm so excited that we get to have these entire scenes created on stage," says Swift. When the huge red velvet curtain parts, the "Speak Now" tour takes off with "Sparks Fly" as fireworks shoot from mini-cannons, and ends with "Love Story," performed as Swift floats above the audience in an enclosed balcony while aerialists soar Cirque du Soleil style. In between, a snowstorm envelops Swift seated at the piano for "Back to December," an Appalachian front porch sets the scene for "Our Song," and guests fill pews before Swift interrupts the bride and groom's wedding vows to "Speak Now." "I started out in theatre so you definitely see influences of that," Swift says. Swift turned the final dress rehearsal, performed in front of a paying audience on May 21, into a fundraiser for tornado victims, raising more than than $750,000. "It was just such a magical night knowing that every single person in the room donated to people who have lost everything," Swift said.

OFFSTAGE: Taylor Swift Is “Normal,” Says Emma Stone
06/6/11, 3:00 pm EDT
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
When you are really good pals with a singer, you pretty much have to like her music, right? Otherwise, "awk," as the kids say. Fortunately, one of Taylor Swift's best friends, actress Emma Stone (Easy A, House Bunny, The Help), really does like Swift's music. She told MTV News that she digs Swift's latest album, Speak Now, and even heard it before it went public. "I was lucky enough to hear it pretty early on, so it's so exciting for it to finally be out and to actually own the songs instead of just be singing them," she said. She also said that Swift is pretty normal. And if Stone does sing Swift's songs in front of her, Stone said, "She's not like, 'I am one of the world's most popular singers.'" In the past, Stone has also described her famous-but-normal buddy with words like "awesome" and "gracious" and "fine."

Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber won his first country music award for his project with Rascal Flatts, and other winners included Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and the pairing of the Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffett.
Kid Rock hosted Wednesday night's (June 8) show live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Swift was onstage in Wisconsin when she learned she'd won the night's top honor -- the video of the year award -- for "Mine."
"I just want to say thank you and hi to everybody back at the CMT Music Awards," she said. "I wish I could be there, but I'm hanging out with 15,000 of my closest friends in Milwaukee. OFFSTAGE: What Taylor Swift’s Opening Acts Think About Swift
06/15/11, 3:00 pm EDT
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
In the recent People Country Special, the eight men who are going out on tour with Taylor Swift this summer speak out about what it's like to know she chose them and what they expect to learn from her. Danny Gokey can relate to her because, he says, "I'm not the typical voice on country radio, so I identify with an artist like her." And accordion phenom and multi-instrumentalist Hunter Hayes is just glad he was invited on her tour. "I'm a Taylor fan, so the fact that she knows who I am is awesome," he said. And David Nail has high hopes for the fans who get there early. "I want them to walk out saying, 'That guy was really good,'" he said. (Swift has said Nail's "Let It Rain" is one of the songs she has on repeat.) Frankie Ballard has one of the most honest assessments of his role on the road, saying, "I want them to like my music, but you're fooling yourself if you don't realize the fans are there to see Taylor and you're just standing in the way of that," he admitted. Swift says she hit MySpace and Facebook to find these guys. And she ultimately chose them because they have songs about relationships and love that pulled her in.

Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood Named 'Queens of Pop' Posted Jul 1st 2011 9:00AM by Cory Stromblad
Rolling Stone magazine has released its list of the Top 16 "Queens of Pop," with country royalty Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood genre-hopping for the prestigious list, landing at No. 2 and No. 11, respectively. The ladies were ranked with a point system based on digital and album downloads and sales, Hot 100 rankings, radio airplay, YouTube views, social media, concert ticket sales, industry awards and critic ratings. The list was compiled based on statistics between 2009 through mid-2011. With almost 10 million albums sold and a staggering 42 industry awards won, Taylor beats out pop music heavyweights Rihanna, Britney Spears and Rihanna to claim the runner-up spot, trailing only Lady Gaga. The 'Mean' singer pulled in a staggering $73.9 million in touring sales, with her near sold-out Speak Now World Tour going strong throughout the rest of the year. Carrie has a strong showing in album sales, coming in No. 3 behind Taylor and Lady Gaga with more than three million albums sold just since 2009. (Her total album sales top 13 million.) The 'Cowboy Casanova' singer placed No. 8 in the touring category, earning $37.8 million on the strength of her headlining Play On tour. www.theboot.com/2011/07/01/taylor-swift-carrie-underwood-rolling-stone-queens-of-pop/

OFFSTAGE: Taylor Swift on Sandwiches, Songwriting and Summer
07/6/11, 2:30 pm EDT
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
She already does it in her songs. But now Taylor Swift is showing off every nuance of her personality in a new blog. This one is about 700 words and called "A Midsummer Night's Blog," and it sums up what she's been up to -- from the very important (songwriting) to the not-so-important (eating a really awesome sandwich). But it's just so her. Like when she describes what her view of the crowd is like from the stage. "The crowds we've been playing for have been so unbelievable," she writes. "The kind of crowds that jump up and down the entire show, making our view from the stage look like a giant ocean of dancing, jumping people. These are the kinds of crowds that sing the words louder and more passionately than I ever could've imagined." Then she takes a paragraph to reveal her fear that her summer has been too good. "Sometimes I get scared that there's got to be some balance to the way things work in the universe-- like you pay for good days by then having bad days, you pay for joy with pain," she says. "Like if you have the most perfect week ever, watch out! It's about to get really awful! Some sort of minor or major tragedy is bound to strike! I hope that's not the way it all goes down. I really hope not because this has been a really beautiful summer so far." There was that one concert cancellation in Kentucky, so maybe now that was the pain she had to endure with all her joy.
