Mindy McCready has lost the man she calls her soulmate, and her son 9-month-old son, Zayne, has lost a father. McCready’s boyfriend David Wilson was found dead on Sunday morning (Jan. 13). He was 34.

No information has been made available as to the cause of Wilson’s death. The ‘Ten Thousand Angels’ singer revealed the news in a statement.

“David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne,” McCready said. Zander is McCready’s first son, born to ex-boyfriend Billy McKnight.

“He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father,” McCready continued of her late boyfriend. “David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David, missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man.”

It was to Wilson’s home in Arkansas that McCready retreated to when she disappeared with Zander in November 2011. A court battle ensued, with a judge saying the boy would remain in foster care in Arkansas as McKnight fought for him to return to Florida. McCready’s latest statement indicates Wilson was a father figure to Zander.

Zayne was born in April 2012 after much speculation that McCready was pregnant with twins. A publicist later explained that belief was a misunderstanding.

Mindy McCready Reportedly Being Investigated in Boyfriend’s Death


In a bizarre new twist to a story already more tragic than any country song, singer Mindy McCready is reportedly being investigated in relation to the recent death of her boyfriend, music producer David Wilson.

Wilson died on Sunday, Jan. 13 at the home the couple shared. The 34-year-old was the father of McCready’s second son, Zayne, and was helping her raise her son Zander from a previous relationship. In a statement after his death, the singer called Wilson “my soulmate” and “a precious gift from God.” Early reports indicated that Wilson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but now several published accounts are calling that into question.

The National Enquirer is reporting that Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss has not yet made a final determination about Wilson’s cause of death.

“This is a very high-profile case and we need to make sure it’s investigated as thoroughly as possible,” Moss tells the tabloid. “It could take weeks for the state crime lab to complete tests on Mr. Wilson’s body, and if you’ll notice, it was Mindy McCready’s spokesperson — not anyone involved in the investigation — who made the determination that Mr. Wilson’s death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

McCready has not been charged with any crime, and authorities have not named her as a suspect. Nonetheless, the UK’s Daily Mail Online reports that McCready is under investigation for what authorities believe may be her role in Wilson’s death.

“David had been carrying on an affair for many weeks before the shooting,” an unidentified source claims. “When Mindy found out, it fueled a lot of very heated fights. The tension in their household became so unbearable that David packed up and left.” The tabloid alleges that Wilson threatened to leave McCready on the day he died.

The Enquirer further claims that it was McCready who made the 911 call to report Wilson’s death, telling the operator that she did not hear the gunshot because she was in another room and had the television turned up loud. The story alleges that the operator who took the call could hear a man moaning in the background.

In a statement to the Boot, McCready’s spokesperson says the singer is currently working with authorities to get a formal statement on the nature of Wilson’s death, which they hope will “eliminate the erroneous information” in the tabloid reports.

McCready is said to have remained sober since her stint on ‘Celebrity Rehab’ several years ago, but her life since her commercial peak in the ’90s has been an ongoing bizarre saga of arrests for forging prescriptions, suspicion of DUI, and a battery charge after an altercation with her mother.

The ‘Ten Thousand Angels’ singer has attempted suicide multiple times and has been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of the father of her first child, and found herself at the center of a national scandal when it was revealed that she engaged in a longterm sexual relationship with married baseball legend Roger Clemens. McCready has also been the subject of a sex tape that has been made public.

Mindy McCready, 'Today' Show Interview: Singer Responds to Murder Accusations


Mindy McCready appeared on NBC's "Today" show this morning (Jan. 29) to address suspicions that she killed her boyfriend, David Wilson. The 34-year-old music producer, father to McCready's youngest son, died of what was initially reported to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Jan. 13. While the 37-year-old singer is not a suspect -- none have been named -- the Cleburne County Sheriff's office is running additional forensic tests to determine whether or not Wilson committed suicide. McCready calls the Sheriff's motives a "witch hunt."

NBC reporter Andrea Canning spoke with the mother of two at her home in Arkansas and asked her point blank if she killed her "soulmate" and the father of her 9-month-old baby. "Oh, my God, no. Oh, my God, no," she answered. "He was my life. We were each others' life."

Additionally, the "Ten Thousand Angels" singer recalled finding her boyfriend, who did not immediately die from his injury, on the couple's front porch. "I just started screaming, calling 911," she said. "I lay down next to him and pleaded with him not to die ... He responded ... with sounds."

McCready did admit to having fought with David the night of his death, however she was adamant that it had nothing to do with rumors he was about to leave her for another woman. "David was not having an affair," she said. "That is absolutely, totally untrue."

Another cause of doubt about McCready's recollection of events came from the fact that the bullet was not immediately found by investigators until the next day. "I didn't find it, the dog did," she explains. "It was in the dog's mouth. I mean, that's a horrific things to say, but it was in the dog's mouth."

Canning asked McCready whether she believed Wilson killed himself or was murdered. Her response: "I don't know."

Mindy McCready Committed to Treatment After Child Services Take Her Children

In another sad development in the life of Mindy McCready, the troubled country singer has reportedly been committed to a treatment facility, and her children have been placed in protective care by authorities in the state of Arkansas.

The move comes just weeks after the death of McCready’s boyfriend, David Wilson. That was initially reported to be a suicide, but subsequent reports have stated that McCready may be under investigation for her possible role in Wilson’s death. McCready has not been named as a suspect, and police have not yet made a formal determination as to Wilson’s cause of death. McCready has emphatically denied any involvement.

McCready’s ex-husband, Billy McKnight, recently filed for full custody of their six-year-old son, Zander. McCready had only recently gained custody of Zander before Wilson’s death. E! News reports that both Zander and Zayne — McCready’s infant son with Wilson — are currently in the custody of the Department of Human Services in Arkansas after a judge ordered the ‘Ten Thousand Angels’ singer committed to a treatment facility for alcohol abuse and a psychological evaluation.

“Family members sought to have Mindy committed to a mental health facility, and there was an emergency hearing today,” a source says. “They just got out of court a little while ago and the judge committed her for up to 21 days.” Another source adds that McCready has admitted to drinking to cope with Wilson’s loss, but continues to deny any involvement in his death.

Mindy McCready Released from Treatment Facility, Placed In Outpatient Care


Mindy McCready has been released from a treatment facility and has been placed in 21 days of outpatient treatment.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, the singer was ordered into a medical facility after family members questioned her ability to care for her two sons, 6-year-old Zander and 9-month-old Zayne, following the Jan. 13 death of her boyfriend, David Wilson. He was the father of her youngest son, and although initial reports had said he committed suicide, his death is still being investigated.

But day later, on Thursday, Feb. 7, doctors released her from the medical facility, placing her in outpatient treatment, E! News reports. A source explains to E!, "She was released because they think she is mentally stable enough, and she was tested for drugs and alcohol and everything came up fine. One of the reasons they released her is she didn't have any symptoms of what an alcoholic would have. There were no signs she had a problem to the doctor."

Another source adds, "Being involuntarily committed and having her children taken away from her was eye-opening. It helped her realize she needs to focus on putting her family back together and moving forward from this tragedy. She is in a better state of mind."

McCready's kids are reportedly with the Department of Human Services in Arkansas.
