Stories from Jackson this weekend...
My boy Whey Jennings showed up so he will help me get through the night. I feel like I have the bird flue swine flue, summer cold, winter cold, ebola, aids with a dash of hey fever sprinkled in. What ever is in bloom in Texas right now I need a shot for it. I have worst sinus head ache I've ever had and I didn't even think I had sinuses anymore. Brutal I'm telling Ya. I'm going to need copious amounts of medicinal whiskey to get through tonight but it's still gong to be a blast! Show tine 10:30. Get there now opening band is good.

Took a little medicine and the wind pip is opening a little and the head ache is fading. Might not be such a brutal night after all.

Ok here we go. I'll see what comes out when I open my mouth. I hope it's not to bad. I'll give it all I got. From now on I travel with a humidifier and allergy shot. I feel cheated that I feel this bad with out actually being sick. Never had allergies until 2003. Makes me scare to eat peanuts. Let do it. —

Before the OD, or to drunk to play rumors get going let me assure everyone that wasn't the case last night and I am going to post this and get it out of the way. Better to pull a bandaid off quick. This video is humiliating at best but it's not going away so I'll be the one to share it. I've been very sick the last few days and getting sicker. By show time last night my fever was so high and my body was so week I had trouble walking to the stage. From the third song in it was a fight to stay in my chair. I don't remember much after that. I have always gutted through injuries and illness and I didn't think last night would be any different. I feel and always feel horrible when my voice in 100% because people are paying and I owe them 100%. It rarely is though. I am normally like most touring working singers at about 70%. Bad monitors, colds, allergies, lack of sleep, air conditioning, heaters, dry climates, smokey bars ect... all play their part. Some times it's strep, the flue or laryngitis and that's when you have to make do which what ever comes out, I think I have a serious case of pneumonia that I will get looked at. I would cancel more when I'm really sick but we are a band some people drive 3, 6 even 9 hours to see. I take that very seriously. I'm not much of a singer anyway and most people who fallow my music do so for the songs not my vocal gymnastics so as long as o can muster the strength I play. I am an average singer at best and I have made peace with that long, long ago. What I lack in natural talent I make up for in work ethic. Anyone who takes the time to look at or tour schedule can see the crazy miles we put in in a relatively short time. I'm not complaining just stating the obvious. Contrary to popular myths I have never been to drunk to finish a show. Ever. I did take to many shrooms one night and that show was cut short. That's one in literally thousands of shows. I've canceled more shoes do to bad weather than I have so to sickness. Never canceled a single show when I broke my femur, or my ribs or my right hand three different times, when I got stabbed or shot, I've jumped off stage gotten in fights and jumped back on and finished with broken noses and eyes swelled completely shut. I only canceled the ones with my left hand because my fingers where broken and dislocated and I couldn't play and we had no one to fill in on guitar. I have never been one to let my body dictate to me what I will do. I am a big believer in will and intestinal fortitude. Sometimes however your body can't be pushed any farther and it dictates to you. I've never fell out of a run in the army no matter how hot long or cold or hungover, never not finished a ruck march no matter how injured. Quitting like fear and insecurity is a virus that will spread if not checked at every turn. I really don't remember much about last night except being embarrassed about my week raspy voice. Each word felt like pushing broken glass across infected wounds in my throat. I should have listened to my body and I will going forward. It's hard for a man like me to face there are things he can gut through. I always have before but I am older now and I have allot of hard miles on me. I can say with a certain amount of pride that I made it to the last moment of the last song before collapsing. So I guess I still technically haven't fallen out of a run or quit. I know the haters will say what they will and that's ok. I'm used to it, but for people that matter to me who actually do worry about me because of my tendency to push things to the extreme last night I was just really really sick. A week off in bed being nursed by my Princess should get me right as rain. Oh and for the record I collapsed I didn't faint. wink emoticon I am much better today so please don't worry. No prayers or well wishes needed. Just allot of rest and TLC from my wife. God Bless, any one you choose. Cocaine ~ Dos Sinners Jackson, Brandon and Whey

At about 3 and 1/2 minutes into this video captures the essence of what America is...
Not a big blabbering drunk but someone who goes at it with every bit of energy they have!
One of the worst songs...in the worst dive...in the worst health...on the brink of success.
Which way will he go...this could be his last chance of becoming known...
I wish he would get busy with something else...like living.

In all the excitement last night I forgot to give a shot out to Kacey Toliver and his band did great and it was a joy having him set in and thanks to my boy Whey Jennings for staying a keeping the party going after our show.

"Fever has broke and I literally feel a hundred times better. Being on my own couch and just realizing has made a world of difference. After a night in my bed I'll be golden. Think what ever it was is a 48 hour bug. Kicked Brandon Burke ass in Palm Springs. I called him a kitty and told him he was faking it. Guess I owe him an apology. Actually chokes me up when I see how concerned he got when I wasn't getting up. It's good to have brothers isn't it."

That poor guy, he was obviously sick as a dog. I'm sure glad his fever broke and he's feeling better.
Got an email this morning that his new album shipped today. I should get it tomorrow.

Here is Jackson Taylor's new video...
Before I go on...just a few thoughts to keep in mind.
It sounds a lot like Billy Joe Shaver...his hero.
They actually do this whiskey thing...pouring it on each other onstage.
That is a really bad influence on today's beer drinking country boys.
It was filmed by Jackson's boy lee and I saw a lot of Colorado in it.
It looked like a huge crowd compared to the usual 15 folks.
It is a simple song to remember when you are 113 years old! lol

I haven't listened to the new album yet ...got sidetracked by Aaron's new album since they arrived in the same package. Today's a new day....Jackson will be going with me in the car to run errands. : )
Maria - Tequila -- now there's a perfect rhyme and cultural connect complete with the mariachi inspired whoop in the video. : )
Kinda reminds me of Ronnie Dunn's mariachi tune "How Far To Waco"....who I'm sure pulled his influence from his longstanding love of Johnny Cash. The circle is unbroken.

I'll give you a hint...though I'm not sure you'll get the reference because I'm not sure you were ever stationed in Norfolk.
We lived just off Shore Drive in Norfolk, on one of the Bay Streets by the Naval Station.

We lived just off Shore Drive in Norfolk, on one of the Bay Streets by the Naval Station. We only had the honor of visiting occasionally...if that town could tell it's sea stories. Did they really have signs..."Sailors and dogs...stay off the grass"? People were offended...but I saw no offense...sailors should stay on the sidewalk...or at sea
