Kenny Rogers Chronicles 'Interesting' Life in New BookApr 22nd 2011 by Gayle Richardson theboot.com Jay Fletcher Kenny Rogers penned many of his own hits, including 'Love or Something Like It' and 'Sweet Music Man,' and now the entertainer is trying his hand at a new kind of writing. The 72-year-old is hard at work on his first autobiography, which will chronicle the highs and lows of his personal and professional lives. "I must admit, the older I get, the more interesting my life used to be," says Kenny (quote via MSN). "I also realized that if I don't do it now, I may forget it all." The country music legend also just released a gospel album, 'The Love of God' exclusively through Cracker Barrel, which he describes as the fulfillment of a dream he held onto for a long time. "'The Love of God' is the culmination of an idea I had been thinking about for years but never had the opportunity to bring to life," he says. "It's been a musical awakening to me" The married father of five, including six-year-old twin boys may have to shelve his writing for several weeks, when he heads to South America on May 18 to perform a series of shows in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina and Peru. See his concert schedule here. The book, which will be released by HarperCollins, is tentatively scheduled for a fall release.

CLASSIC KENNY: Kenny & Dolly in ‘90It’s hard to believe that a photo from 1990 can now be considered “classic,” but since 1990 came and went more than two decades ago, it’s true. This shot of Kenny and Dolly was taken on May 10, 1990 at the T.H. Barton Coliseum in Little Rock, AR, which was part of an eight-show Kenny/Dolly tour in May following the Grand Opening of Dollywood, April 27th-29th, in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Kenny Rogers To Release New CD With Cracker Barrel Kenny Rogers will become the first artist to release a second album through the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store exclusive music program when The Love of God becomes available on March 7. The CD is an inspirational collection of classic songs that Rogers remembers from his childhood along with new recordings of contemporary songs. Kenny reveals, “The Love of God is the culmination of an idea I had been thinking about for years but never had the opportunity to bring to life. It’s been a musical awakening to me. To all of the wonderful musicians, vocalists, and songwriters who lent their amazing talents to this record, I want to thank you for making it so special. It seems I have a personal relationship with every song on it.” He explains, “For example, ‘In The Sweet By And By’ was my mom’s favorite song. When I was a kid, as I was leaving to go to school, I remember hearing her sing along with the radio. Music is by far the best ‘memory creator’ I know, and that memory is very special to me.” Rogers also will celebrate an incomparable career of pop and country hits in Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years, a special premiering on Tuesday, March 8, 8:30 PM, ET on GAC. The show will feature performances from stars that Rogers has both befriended and inspired including Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Alison Krauss, Tim McGraw, Smokey Robinson, Billy Currington, Darius Rucker, Wynonna, Chris Isaak, The Oak Ridge Boys, Sheena Easton, original members of the First Edition and more.
