"We all enjoy putting our toe in the cold water of fear," Alfred Hitchcock once said when asked about the pleasure of being frightened.
The new trailer for American Horror Story: Coven, the third season of the series, certainly invokes that delight in fright, with a group of young witches stomping in unison to a dark rendition of the folk song "The House of the Rising Sun."
Zoe, played by Taissa Farmiga, leads the march of the student witches towards the entrance of their finishing school, set in New Orleans. Sarah Paulson greets the girls at the door, and they file in to a large, dimly-lit room adorned with a white pentagram on the ceiling.
In the last few moments, we meet whom the young witches will have to answer to – Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett. Dressed in head-to-toe black with stern expressions, this powerful trio looks ready to teach us all a lesson.
