Michael, When you have the time and inclination, please tell me the story about Jackson Taylor. : ) In that same vein, I'm so spoiled in Texas. Country music as I know and love it lives on...with it's pain and heartbreak. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPiddSDZ5XsI have the new Billy Joe Shaver and Willie on Vinyl...as soon as I get the stereo hooked up correctly I'll be thumping that music. Vinyl records are so cool now...such quality is put into the entire project...buy vinyl!!! I have been observing how you type and will do the space sentence thing you do...so much easier to read. Now as you know...with a last name of Taylor you could be sure that I would come across Jackson Taylor on you tube. It certainly grabbed my attention with the label of Punk/Country...hey...sounded good to me. I have a problem...stumped... Please excuse me...my well judge for yourself... more to come! So quickly...my aforementioned friend and I went to his show here in Fay...supposed to be the grand opening of a new bar at the old Club West...bought 4 tickets next to the stage. Time passed and my wife and my aforementioned friend bailed on us. There may have been 30 people there...but the band was pouring whisky all over each other...the bar or someone kept lining up shots and the cat kept of downing them...8 in a row sometimes. Now Jo I know how you feel about alcoholics...but these guys were an unholy mess...even I haven't seen such a ________ in some time. After the show Jackson and the guys invited my aforementioned friend and I to the hotel where you can imagine the usual shenanigans. my aforementioned friend had to go home due to high blood pressure and the cat in the hat jumped in with us and left the band behind... Fast forward ...4:00 AM playing Ray Charles vinyl by his suggestion...playing Avril Lavigne by my suggestion...arguing about music for an hour. 6:00 AM called him out on all his bravado and all his Army Ranger stories...told him that he could whoop me right now if he wanted too...but I was not scared. Next thing I knew is that we were climbing bluffs...briars...barbed wire...brush...all barefoot and in our skivvies only...to my wife's delight...she has this ipad thingy! We were walking in the middle of the creek when I knew he had an epiphany...all the crap that he endured in his life could be forgotten ...he could cry .he could be himself... he could move on...he certainly has PTSD and I pointed him into the right direction. Lately he is doing better than ever living in a trailer in Kansas with his little Italian miss...I take pride in helping him regain his life before he died...for which I am sure was the direction that he was headed. I think one of his latest videos showcases the middle ground that he has found...I look for him to do much more in the future...but like his mellowness now. youtu.be/1RBkteeLE9U Please excuse me while I run to town!

Michael, I'm so glad your lovely and beloved wife is keeping you up on things with her Ipad. : ) Hubby and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this year. We got matching t shirts that said "Just Married ....25 years ago". You have the biggest heart and you done did another really wonderful thing. Too many of our own have PTSD. I can see the difference you've made in his life from the video you linked. You know me, I always, always, always, celebrate the ones who make it through....and those who help them make it through. This one is for you: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcRJAUhwqzY....and with Taylor as part of his name, it was destiny for you. : )

Its the Silver anniversary which I believe that is the best investment going...I suppose both are symbols of investments. That and music...Aarons song took on a heavy theme here. On the third verse he made it impossible to convey all the battles...all the battles that this country has been in...and will be in. I know in the interest of success it used the title "Raise Your Bottle" and had influences of drinking to bring in the attention of today's millenniums. Aaron did this pretty well...I suppose that he is too country to make it in Nashville. As far as I can tell...he has it all! I have been listening to the indie folk music radio station online...it's kinda depressing how I listen to all this great music and have no inkling of who they are...really great stuff. Let me think of a video for you! All I can think of at the moment is this one from the early 90's by the Gibson Miller Band...bear with me...please! youtu.be/nLob85xt2OsBTW: I do not have to worry about an anniversary this year...but next anniversary 12/20/15 it is a pearl! Anniversary Traditional Modern 1st Paper 2nd Cotton 3rd Leather 4th Fruit/Flowers 5th Wood 6th Candy/Iron 7th Wool/Copper 8th Pottery/Bronze 9th Willow/Pottery 10th Tin/Aluminum 11th Steel Fashion 12th Silk/Linen 13th Lace Textile 14th Animals* 15th Crystal 20th China 25th Silver 30th Pearl 35th Coral 40th Ruby 45th Sapphire 50th Gold 60th Diamond

Karyn....Karyn...are you here???OMG...this place could be the hot spot of the internet! Now two of my favorite people are here...along with the favorites who are here as always. So now I'm torn... like some drama... both of you I adore... I'll change the name... of this thread door... Keep you to myself... for myself forevermore... It has been awhile... so much left unsaid... when I say goodby... thoughts enter my head... Where are you now... where has your path led... here to the connection... non country instead. Sorry for the rambling but that is the first thing that I have written in years...thanks for the inspiration. At the risk of losing the multitude of viewers here I am changing the name of this thread to the Non Country Connection...if there are any complaints...well what can I say...you are most likely right. Now Karyn...come over here and sit on Santa's lap and tell me what you want for Christmas! Well while you are thinking about it I'll tell you what I want...I want a smile...one of those that you can't return! I would also like if possible...a few good friends...some visions written in words...some good vibrations in the air...a little strengthening of the spirit would be cool too. It it is not too much to ask for I would like to have some good music to awaken too everyday...or even silence...for this last wish I would give up the internet and T.V.! Then y'all would have to move to Arkansas and we could play music everyday...forever. wouldn't that be nice! Here is a timeless tune that has been rattling around in my head for sometime now. Is it normal to pull songs out of your head to relate to what you are going through at the time? youtu.be/5t2aL79_2e4But still dig good feeling tunes... youtu.be/uNkF_ZpQ4eg

Michael,
Nobody has it all and Aaron had his silent time, unable to write, after he and his wife lost their baby girl a few years ago.
The song I linked for you really is one he wrote for his dad who was disabled in 'Nam.
He started out selling albums out of his backpack while he was in college and he's always grown slowly. He's very religious and doesn't do cheating songs because he doesn't feel they reflect his values.
I've linked him a couple of times on this thread because he's one of the artists I've continued to follow in the last couple of years. I really did quit listening to radio and watching videos on tv. Once in a while I'll see what the new album releases on Amazon are and listen to some song clips. I've added some new artists that way but mostly I just buy the artists I've loved the longest.
It wasn't just the internet I unplugged from the last couple of years Michael. It was a lot of things. Stress is terrible for diabetics. It's not great for anyone but for diabetics, the cortisol your body sends out to deal with stress shoots your blood sugar right up. By the time I was diagnosed two years ago, I'd already been feeling the results of neuropathy (though I didn't know that's what it was at the time) and my already poor eyesight had deteriorated from 400 to over 600. I had eczema I just kept pouring more and more steroid cream on which shot my blood sugar up even more.
Now the good news, because I did unplug and reduced my stress levels...and increased my exercise which in turn helped my lung function which also helped me decreased the steroids I've been on for over two decades for my asthma, I now take half the steroids for my asthma that I was taking for decades. I avoided the beta blockers the cardiologist wanted to put me to slow my heart (which was going at 140 while I was resting).
As usual, in my wordy way, I'm trying to say, it was never you or Taylor Swift I was avoiding. : ) I just had to reboot. Deeply reboot. More good news is that my neuropathy took longer but it's been gone for the past six months. The eczema's been gone for a year. My eyesight improved some and I got to downgrade my prescription there too.
I'll add in some actual music later...gotta go finish cooking Sunday lunch just now. : )

Michael, I know this is so predictable but my favorite song for the past year or so is Kacey Musgraves "Blowin' Smoke". Mine and everybody else's. : ) She's another one from the Texas music circuit who became mainstream. She just nails it so perfect with her songwriting. Lord knows most of us spent our years waiting tables...I did anyway. Started out in high school working at the local truck stop. Waited tables, cooked, did dishes...the usual. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEsEUpk5rU8I'll do one more song in a bit and then I'll leave your Taylor thread back to Taylor.

I saw an ad for a Don Williams concert for 19.00 at a casino recently...probably the worst 20 bucks that I never spent. It made me think...is he still around? Then I found out that he indeed has came out of retirement and released a new album in 2012 "And So It Goes" What a voice...love it well as Vern Gosdins...that is saying something. I used to lay on the living room rug and listen to "I Believe in You" that is when it was relatively new...as you can see in this viddy. youtu.be/Biz5kBIAtic My how times have changed...but Don Williams sweet and smooth voice still rings true...even through his dentures. lol.. His music is kinda like that first cup of great coffee with some cream and sugar in it that makes you want to drink the entire pot! He will be married for 55 years next year...and will be 75 next year...and still sitting while he plays. I wonder if he has back problems or something...I think back in the day if you had a health issue labels were hesitant to sign you for the liability. This stigma has been around for years...remember the blue yodeler when TB was rampant? I am sure that you have witnessed raised eyebrows when you had to relay your health information to a provider...same as with music...with the exception that a doctor wants ailments...music businesses don't. <<<That could be the lousiest sentence that I have ever wrote...what can I say...only up from here!

Well ...now is the time to change this thread up a bit...starting with the title of which was changed twice in the same number of days. The new title is officially the "I Believe In You Connection"
youtu.be/Biz5kBIAtic
I will be the control freak walking away from the controls...anyone willing to take this opinion thing on?
I have only one rule...no Taylor Swift discussions...dang it I already broke that one!

Michael, It's a good thing that Don Williams has his lovely bride still around to help him carry the load....what with his back issues and all. : ) Not so sure about that cup of coffee though...are you sure it's not tea with the nice touch of cinnamon. Homey and lovely. Tell you what, you can have the coffee, tea for me. Are you sure you wouldn't rather start a new thread for general discussion so you can have your Taylor thread back? It's all good but there's no reason for Taylor not to keep her thread. Whatever works for you Michael. Changing the subject, this came up on my Ipod shuffle today. Do you know this one: Levi Lowrey - The Space Between: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y98uI0Yafvk

Maybe this video shows the connection and respect they have for each other. You know the unspoken word seen in the eye. Keith is like a child with his father...I see the love that he has for Don...but then again what is not to love?
