Michael,
Black Oak Arkansas is new to me but I love 'em. The interview you linked...oh my gosh, I absolutely love that guy. I watched it twice last night before I went to sleep. He is indeed a conversationalist and a communicator.
It was just like being in the same room with my mom and dad's families. They were all conversationalists....love that word. : )

P.S. ....and I love his teeth too. : )
My dad had four teeth most of the time I was growing up, two on the top and two on the bottom but they didn't match up. Finally found the money to have those four teeth pulled and he got dentures. He could chew again instead of gumming everything. Made his life better. : )

Wow...where do I go for my morning regimen...right here...must be the people I suppose! Actually most of the members have jumped ship it seems...maybe I'll just stand watch until they return...they always
return! Thank you Jo for your kind words about my family...although we are spread out from California to Maine I feel one day they will return to their roots. When they do I figure that there ought to be a
place that they can call home....guess I am standing watch here at home too.
It just occurred to me that I have 13 grave plots in the cemetery...13 is a sacred number now a days...on this thread anyways.
My wife's family has a whole row at a cemetery in the green hills of Oklahoma...her family was big...she was the youngest of 11.
I am just blurting facts in no random order...
I have a burial policy that dad bought us all when each of us were born...worth about 7G...enough to be buried.
My 3 older sisters and brother sold it for cash value when dad died for about 600+ dollars years ago...he died in 1992...my God 22 years ago?
They see no use for things like burial policies...it is not their problem...ah but it is IMO.
I have learned that the funeral business is a racket...I am sure you do as most businesses such as this have your back against the wall.
Imagine the funeral homes directors face when you walk in and tell them that you want to be burried before the next rooster crows!
Then proceed to tell them that you have the plot and your own casket...I need to buy a vault only...heck the monument company has these.
I guess that I could bury myself for around 600 bucks...if I could just figure out how to use a shovel on my back.
I have the barn wood all picked out for the casket with a thick slice of memory foam and some nice comfy cloths and a feather pillow.
I have specific items that I want to take... with music and photos being a priority...maybe an I pod.
Build a battery supply into the headstone and if I ever get any visitors they can bring batteries instead of flowers!
^^^This was all my idea!!!
I figure that the coroner would release me to my wife and her brothers could handle the rest...simple as that.
My family could take a few days off to reflect...or what I would prefer them do...go outside and just breathe.
Take the burial policy and go on an Alaskan cruise...via Amtrak through the Rockies...I hear that is nice.
The way that I am going now ...I may outlive them all...then I may take that cruise!

They were all conversationalists....love that word. : ) Ole Jim Dandy...I had him sign my shoulder and told him that I was going to have it tattooed on...later I thought I don't think "Jim Dandy" would go over well...so no go ole Jimbo! The first song in the Video is what we used to use as our secret call. When I would get home from school which was a 45 minute ride in the morning but only 15 in the evening so that gave me time to run before the chores had to be done I would run to the house throw my stuff into my room while jumping into my tennies and shorts and off I would run. We lived right on Baron Fork creek where we would swim in the crystal clear water and fish and camp ...right in our backyard. I would run to the top of the bluffs and yell Heyyyy.... heyyyyy heyyyy yeahhhhh and my friend would yell hack...right hereeeee...all to the beat of the first song..."When Electricity Came To Arkansas". It never ever occurred then why they called a hollar in the woods a hollar...until later...when I realized I knew what a hollar was all along.

Finally found the money to have those four teeth pulled and he got dentures. He could chew again instead of gumming everything. Made his life better. : ) lol...we should tell him that! Actually good dental hygiene is a huge key to your overall health...all sorts of bad issues occurs with all the bacteria and plack that grows on your teeth. Where was I going...I almost forgot... I was in the backseat of our new 1962 Galaxie 500 in Goat Hill Colorado at our local gas station/vegetable/firecracker/candy store . It was when you could buy gas for around 29 cents a gallon and a bottle of pop in that chest machine cooler for a dime. It was RC Cola and peanuts...it was good. Dad knew the owner well...they were in WW2 against each other...he called him "The Jap"...only him though...but that is all that I knew and still know the man by...sorry...but it's true. My dad and the Jap would fill up the tank while smoking Lucky Strikes and telling war stories... As kids would do I rolled down the back seat window and told the Jap..."My dad has false teeth"...the Jap began laughing and pointing at dad and said something like...bygawdyoudo! Dad never forgot that moment when I helped the jap win a battle...it made both men happy...it was good. I guess that I haven't forgot either!

This was one of Taylors E-mails years ago when she was on myspace...
"Hey Michael, thanks so much for writing. I would love to send you an autographed pic...just send us your address. Things have been crazy around here. I've been doing tons of radio interviews and I love it. I actually got to hear my single "Tim McGraw" played on the biggest station here in Nashville last night for the first time. It was a magical moment for me and I'll never forget what that felt like. Thanks so much for all the nice things you wrote and keep in touch. It would really be great if you could call your local radio station and ask them to play "Tim McGraw", the song. haha. That would really help me out. Thanks, again. lovelovelove, -T-"

From sone Tabloid about last night... Leave it up to Taylor Swift to throw a birthday blowout to end all birthday blowouts! After starting the celebration off while performing at the New York City Jingle Ball, the singer – who turned 25 on Saturday – kept the festivities going offstage at her apartment. And thanks to her long list of famous friends, there wasn't a blank space in the house. Swift, who was already dressed for the night in the plaid two-piece outfit she wore to the annual holiday concert, was all smiles as she arrived at her Tribeca pad, where she was joined by Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith, Karlie Kloss and the girl band HAIM. With such a star-studded guest list – which also included Selena Gomez, Jaime King, Emma Roberts, Ansel Elgort, Kelly Osbourne, Nick Jonas and Chrissy Teigen – we can't imagine what Swift wished for when she blew out her candles. But, hey, it's her party and she can ... shake it if she wants to.

Happy Birthday Taylor. : )
...and Michael, I'm not surprised that your lovely wife has a large family too. : )
It's good to have a burial plan and I like how you have it figured out how you'd like to be send off.
When my MIL died, she was cremated and the funeral home asked if we wanted the very tiny urns to bring a portion of her ashes home. We got one for us and one for son. Most of her was buried in the shared plot that will also be where my FIL will be buried. Since we live so far away though, we have her with us always. Took me a while to get used to having her in the house but now it's comforting. The urns are really beautiful and really quite compact. About two inches tall.
Son and his girlfriend/fiancé have talked about how they'd like to make into jewelry for the other to have if they should pass. That was a new one for me but they said it's becoming more popular as time goes on.
I know I want to be cremated.
My dad was buried next to my sister. They bought they plots when she died at 20. My mom will be buried there also. The headstone has been there for years already with the names already on it and only her final date needs to be added when she passes. Just last month I sent a check to the funeral home to prepay her funeral. It's something they do with an insurance company and then the policy pays directly to the funeral home. In the town I grew up in, there is only one funeral home. One cemetery.
Way back when I was still in my teens and I'd visit my sister's grave, there was my parents headstone already there with the inscription parents of....and then our names. It was really startling to see my name on a gravestone when I was young but it's been decades now and you get used to seeing it.
My dad, like yours, was a child in the depression and he and his older siblings had terrible teeth. His younger siblings fared better on that count. Terrible nutrition. They sold most of the crops they grew to pay the property taxes on the homestead/farm and dad said they had one year when they had nothing to eat but turnips for six months. My dad was born in 1928.

I love your stories too Jo...if you ever need an ear just to here...let it be here! Guess what this Monday is??? My Friday...weird but they are forcing me to take 6 days vacation...use or lose. So off to my days off...I don't have to be back until Christmas night! My wife told me to buy my own Christmas gift...I'll pick it up tomorrow! It's a beautiful 1000 gallon propane tank....she does not see why but I do. When I get this all hooked up I will have a generator and my blacksmithing fuel all ready to go. I have struggled with these survival ideas for years. When folks are hitting rocks together to make a fire I'll simply pull out my bic lighter...when people are scrambling to cook over the campfire we will be cooking on the stove for years to come. So rather than a trip... jewlery or other things...I'll take the tank over it all! So I want to tank you all for readin...be back soon! This song is a bit late for our conversation earlier... youtu.be/YgZ2Xj7ewTI

Are there any ideas on how to improve this letter from Jeffery to Taylor...I think it is amazing as it is!
Happy birthday Taylor! I wanted to write to say happy birthday and to also say thank you for so many things (A simple thank you, comes no where close to the amount appreciation and love I have for you, but I mean it with all my heart.. Thank you so so much for always being here anytime I’ve needed you since 2006. Thank you, for being the single voice that has traveled with me through all the good times and the not so great times in my life. For being the only voice that has ever been able to calm me down and help me through a countless number of doctors appointments/hospital visits. Thank you for never abandoning me and providing all of us with a soundtrack that fits, just about every scenario we could ever go through in life. it’s because of you, that we now feel less alone and because of you and your music.. that those of us who used to feel so alone, have now made so many friendships through the uniting of your music. Without you, we wouldn’t have ever had the chance to meet many of these fabulous people and for that, we are forever thankful. Lastly, thank you Taylor for being all that you are as a person. Not just the artist, but the hero and inspiration that gives us so much hope by simply and fearlessly being who you are and for loving us in the way that you do. You truly inspire us and you make me personally want to try even harder to live my life with the same level of compassion, heart, and love as you work to put on display everyday. I know, I’ve said it a lot, but I just can’t say thank you enough for all that you’ve been and done for not only myself, but every other Swiftie, who’s life you’ve touched and continue to impact along the way. You are truly an angel and hero in our eyes, today and everyday; I hope that your day is filled with all the kindness and love, you could ever hope for on your special day.. I love you!Your friend always,Jeff

Michael,
Happy vacation. Hubby is taking the week off this week too. We're having a staycation. Going out to lunch and then to the movies each day. Plus he has a lot of music for church this week too. : )
I didn't know you did blacksmithing. Do you have animals or do you an assortment of other projects? My grandpa took a whole lot of his old farm tools which weren't used anymore and welded them into my maiden name on the pasture fence at the homestead/farm. This was decades ago now. I'm sure it's long since gone. The farm/homestead was auctioned off in the late 80's. My great-grandmother and great-grandmother homesteaded 160 acres in the early 1870's. It was the earliest time in their particular spot of land where the Indians didn't attack and run off anyone who tried to settle there. My grandpa found arrowheads on the homestead for decades. For reference, there are very long generations on my dad's side of the family. My great-grandfather was born in 1844 and my grandfather was born in 1889. My grandmother was born in 1904 but she died before I was born. My grandpa was alive until I was in my 20's.
My dad was always cutting and welding things too. Which isn't the same as blacksmithing I know. : )
I grew up with propane tanks all around. They're very useful, especially in the country. My other grandpa (my mom's dad) had a propane cooking stove but it used the portable bottles of propane. You'd just go outside and turn on the gas on and then light the stove and you'd be good to go. So nice. My dad's dad always had a wood burning cook stove all his life and baking in a wood oven is just something I never got the hang of.
I grew up spoiled with a regular natural gas stove and oven. Didn't even have to go turn the gas on outside to use it. : )

Michael, I'm probably the last remaining person around who isn't on Facebook so the link didn't work for me.

Michael, I'm probably the last remaining person around who isn't on Facebook so the link didn't work for me. Excellent choice Jo...FB is nothing more than a people control thing. Did you know that Isreal has been working on retina recognition of FB members...they appreciate it when you tag your own photos....thank you. They now have an app that lets you down load a photo of someone and it will come up with the real identity of the person. Just when I thought it was cool that you could look into your neighbors back yard with Google Earth...they come up with this. We are always behind the ball when it comes to technology. So now the police can obtain a search warrant based on what they have seen on Facebook photos. I will tell you what ...if they EVER try to take my Taylor memorabilia...they WILL have a problem.lol Even a statement such as that^^^will get you noticed and followed on facebook. So Jo once again you have made a wise decision to not go with the flow...you know?
