Michael, Happy vacation. Hubby is taking the week off this week too. We're having a staycation. Going out to lunch and then to the movies each day. Plus he has a lot of music for church this week too. : ) I didn't know you did blacksmithing. Do you have animals or do you an assortment of other projects? My grandpa took a whole lot of his old farm tools which weren't used anymore and welded them into my maiden name on the pasture fence at the homestead/farm. This was decades ago now. I'm sure it's long since gone. The farm/homestead was auctioned off in the late 80's. My great-grandmother and great-grandmother homesteaded 160 acres in the early 1870's. It was the earliest time in their particular spot of land where the Indians didn't attack and run off anyone who tried to settle there. My grandpa found arrowheads on the homestead for decades. For reference, there are very long generations on my dad's side of the family. My great-grandfather was born in 1844 and my grandfather was born in 1889. My grandmother was born in 1904 but she died before I was born. My grandpa was alive until I was in my 20's. My dad was always cutting and welding things too. Which isn't the same as blacksmithing I know. : ) I grew up with propane tanks all around. They're very useful, especially in the country. My other grandpa (my mom's dad) had a propane cooking stove but it used the portable bottles of propane. You'd just go outside and turn on the gas on and then light the stove and you'd be good to go. So nice. My dad's dad always had a wood burning cook stove all his life and baking in a wood oven is just something I never got the hang of. I grew up spoiled with a regular natural gas stove and oven. Didn't even have to go turn the gas on outside to use it. : ) I need to take lessons from your hubby...movies and dinner...all week...awesome idea. Much better than mine...get up...piddle...lunch...work...supper...piddle...T.V....bed...get up...etc. Now I'll add blacksmithing to the equation...still in the designing stages...propane tank...where are you? You know Jo I have thought so deeply on survival issues...I used to prep for every man for himself...who really wants that? Run into a hole somewhere with a can of beans telling everyone to leave you alone will not last that long...you would die in the hole alone...full of guilt. I have came to the conclusion...I am not running...I am not hiding...I am not hurting. Who really wants to live in a world where it is total mayhem anyway...I mean when the alternative is Heaven...whats the point...I'd go to Heaven...If they would have me. So I have a great camping spot on the creek ...downstream from the house...I have a hand dug well near the house where I'll do blacksmith work and welding and such for weary travelers. It just seems like a great trade to have in a crisis...the guy across the highway has been a sideline mechanic for years...has a huge shop with everything. I would probably send the work over there while we tended to the travelers. I can not remember for the life of me why once it was hunker down and fire...and now it is gather round the fire. Helping rather than hurting seems like a no brainer anymore. So my motto is now...let me think here...may take awhile... "If your life depends on one last can of beans...give it away".

Oh...I got the indoor plumbing working! We have a well inside my house where I put a brand new hand pump...awesome set up. Still waiting for our water analysis but if nothing else it sure beats using the outhouse. I betcha not many people have thought about where they are going to "use it"...I am sure that people will become very inventive in their need. I do know that... without time ruling on the porcelain thrown...people can get very desperate and confused...just sayin...

Speaking about rest rooms...where did all the ladies of country go to? I skim over the country music sites as I have noticed a huge gender missing...women...maybe they all left to the powder room.
I suppose what you have now is bro country...lots of new music if good...I hope its good as I haven't listened much...I see Kenny Chesney had a warm up band of hippies...forget their name as usual...I think
they are called "The Little Stinkers" but I hope they have there tour bus all to themselves with a name like that. I betcha they will get old whats her name...the girl I was going to talk about earlier...the
waitress from the Texas trailer park? Then there is darling Carrie Underwood...I have came to respect her for staying true to what country music deems proper. Carrie really has it all...a nice strong
husband...a baby on the way...the gig at the Opry...the great voice...and the country icon style. Miranda seems to have cleaned up her act and lost some weight...I think her thighs in spandex personally
reawakened some primal instinct in her...she is vicious...in a good way. There are the two ladies in LBT who keep that boat afloat...shouldn't they get the quintet award every year...is there a quintet award?
Then we move up to the top here at the bottom and mention Martina Mcbride...What...MARTINA McBRIDE...the one who should have won didn't win none. I mean really.. the claim that being nominated is a win in
itself is far from true in this case...she should have won it all...all the time.
Other than that I can't think of any other female country music artists right now...maybe they slipped out the bathroom window!
I do know of one artist that I may surprise my wife with on our anniversary...tickets to a Kathy Mattea Christmas!
I like to think that the best music is yet to come...but then I think...naw the best are all my age...I think of my folks when I play some Patsy Cline and think...my...my...what have we done to music?
Maybe it's time to add some good old Western music back into the chile.
With that you get a Kathy Mattea video!!!!!

Michael,
That's some very deep thought and I love your turn of phrase...once it was hunker down and fire and now it's gather round the fire. : )
How deep is your hand dug well?

When I was a kid, my dad installed an indoor bathroom in our house. One of my grandpa's had an indoor bathroom by the time I was about ten or so. The other one never did add an indoor bathroom...always had an outhouse. He did finally add an electric water pump in the house for the kitchen sink and that was nice. Sure beat walking the half mile to the windmill and the water pump there and hauling water back to the house. Sure wish that thing had had an electric pump on it. Can't say I'd ever enjoy going back to the old ways but life goes on.

Kathy Mattea is a keeper. I hope you and your lovely wife have a wonderful time seeing her Christmas show. : ) I tend to like a lot of female entertainers....you've already mentioned some of them....Martina, Kacey Musgraves....really love Krystal Keith's debut album (Toby's daughter). Lee Ann Womack and LeAnn Rimes both have pretty new albums I love. Still hoping for a full album from Kristen Kelly but I do love everything I've heard from her. Still love Sarah Darling though she hasn't had a new album lately. Breelan Angel shows real promise. Katie Armiger is awesome. Kellie Pickler is a keeper for the long haul. Love that girl. Here's a song she wrote about her granny. www.youtube.com/watch?v=84zTW3Bo8t4I'd heard Miranda Lambert had dropped a few pounds. Seems like she's on all the magazine covers at the check out stand. She's always seemed tiny to me either way. I read, while waiting on one line, that she was a size six before she lost weight. That's just little to start with. Or maybe it's just that I come from craggy people. : ) My grandmother was 6 feet tall. My mom is 5 foot 10. I came in short at 5 foot 8 but I still have the size ten feet. I have big bones...back when I weighed 110 pounds I was a size 12. These days I've settled into a 14. I doubt I'll ever weigh 110 again.

Wow...seeing artists like Amber Digby is kinda depressing...such a talent...channeling Patsy Cline. She was singing a great song and I found out it was a cover of Ray Price...which tells me one thing...the lady has great taste. I love it...but am dying for some western stuff! If only I could use my years of observation and convey it to someone like this it could be lightning in a microphone. I like Lady A but when they reach the top of their game it leaves me wondering...how long will the band last...they still seem to have good camaraderie...one that will last!

Pretty big news...while you were sleeping!!!!
Taylor Swift's 1989 is heading back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Industry forecasters suggest the album may sell over 340,000 copies in the week ending Dec. 21, while its overall album consumption figure could approach 390,000.
Taylor Swift Leads Billboard Hot 100, Ed Sheeran Soars to Top 10
The recently revamped Billboard 200 chart now ranks albums based on their overall consumption. That overall figure combines pure album sales, along with track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent
albums (SEA).
The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Dec. 24.
If 1989 returns to No. 1, it will mark the 30th cumulative week atop the Billboard 200 chart for Swift. She previously reigned with Fearless (11 weeks in 2008 and 2009), Speak Now (six weeks in 2010 and 2011)
and Red (seven weeks in 2012 and 2013).

Have you ever heard that imitation is a great form of flattery? I suppose if they aint making fun of you then you aint worth making fun of.
I have a couple of parody videos from Bart Barker...who is a known terror on you tube.
I am a bit reluctant to play these here because of the language...please forgive them for they know not what they do.
"Shake It Off"

"Blank Space"

Now you may be wondering how Taylor would feel about these parodys...well she likes them!
She has even made friends with Bart Barker...
He hasn't been seen since...

I have been liking this song lately...Stay.
The lyrics are so deep and meaningful...
This is the only you tube that I could find as Taylor's music was pulled...official videos only.
So I found a kid that does a pretty good cover.
What strikes a chord with me in this song is the way that some people behave...
You know when you really trust someone and they let you down...
When you let them inside your life...and you feel rejected...
When you help them time and time again...only to feel dejected...
Seeing two huge signs for two months so far for missing dog...
I could have helped look...and I did...without help from anyone...
This really sounds like a song I wrote before...as all of her songs strangly do...
Without further adeau here is some kid singing "Stay" by Taylor Swift...
