I like his new stuff a whole lot.
Did you see him and Hank and Jamey Johnson all having at it in Alabama.
They are all neighbors...shotguns cigars and all...pretty fun life.
Kid never ceases to amaze me...keeps getting better with age.
Miranda...I am going to watch this video for the first time...
right here and now...really!

Michael, I wondered if the song "Drinking Beer With Dad" is actually about Hank Williams Jr. instead of his father. I heardd him say once that his father threw him out of the house when he was a teenager and then he had some songs on earlier albums indicating they didn't get along. And Hank Jr. has said numerous times that he considers Kid to be like a son. Because Hank Jr. and Hank III don't get along. That is why I think that song could be about Hank Jr.
I watched that Miranda Lambert video the other night, and I did not care for it at all. I used to be a big fan but I think her music has gone down the toilet since Revolution.

Miranda,
Kid is his own kind of cowboy...and I do so love cowboys. : )
It's entirely possible "Beer with Dad" is about Hank Jr. They are close and good for each other.
Of the three songs, you linked, my favorite is "Jesus and Bocephus".
Kid does truth, straight out.

Of the three I posted my favorite is Beer With Dad. It reminds me of my grandfather. We didn't drink beer, but we used to sit on the porch a lot. It brought a smile to my face the first time I heard it Yes Kid is straight truth and he's gotten me through some hard times in my life. He's been a good friend to me, in a manner of speaking.

That's so great Miranda. : )
My grandpa's weren't like that. One of them could remember all his grandson's names but none of his granddaughter's names. In fairness, he was really old and he spent a lot of years refighting World War I in his mind.
My other grandpa could be a bit rough but I always got along fine with him until he hauled off and just kicked the heck out of my dog one day. She was just lying there sleeping on the floor and she yelped. Nobody messes with my dog and I got up in his face and said the next time he kicked my dog or any dog, it'd be him on the floor getting booted in the ribs. He never went near my dog again and we continued to get along just fine.
With some folks, like my grandpa, you just need defined boundaries. IMHO, anyway.

My grandfather died nine years ago. My favorite uncle died the summer before my grandfather died. We used to all sit out on the porch and argue about Democrats vs. Republicans and Ford vs. Chevy. It was good times LOL
My grandfather lived in an apartment complex and his brother also lived there and there were some others old people who were their neighbors. I used to go sit on the porch with them during my lunch break every day. They are all gone now. I miss them

Well Jo there was a Chevy faction led by my grandfather, a Ford faction led by my late uncle and a Dodge faction led by my great-uncle (also now deceased). Everyone in the family had to choose sides early on. LOL I personally have always driven Fords so I sided with my uncle. I noticed they use Kid's Born Free in Chevy truck commercials now. But my guess is he just enjoys the old Detroit classics, period. *thumbs up*

A well rounded Detroit man, eh...good way to go Kid. : )
We drive Ford's now but we've driven a whole lot of different cars.
Growing up, my dad was a mechanic and we lived in a small town. People would drop off their cars for however long it took and when they had intermittent problems, you had to drive them a bit for whatever was wrong to show itself. Back in the days when you repaired parts rather than replacing major parts like you do now. As soon as us kids learned to drive, we'd get stuck with whatever ailing car he was diagnosing and then we'd end up walking home when it acted up.
I drove a lot of different cars and trucks. : )
You know, I have seen my dad fix my car with a toothpick before. Seriously. Inside the alternator there were (are?) brushes which generate energy. When the brushes get worn down, you replace them...except now they replace your alternator. But if you didn't happen to have new brushes to replace the old ones, my dad would stick a toothpick in there and push the brushes out further so they'd last until they wore further down.
I do miss my dad so much.

I think they build cars and parts to where they are virtually unrepairable so you will be forced either to buy expensive replacements or buy an entirely new car. Its a huge scam. The car I had before the one I have now was 12 years old and ran great, but the electricals started going haywire. I knew eventually I'd have to put a bunch of money into it so I just got a new one. I didn't want to at that time.

I think that the beer with dad song was about Hank Jr.
Sheldon Hank Williams...is very upset with pops...He said once...Hank...you already have a son!
Seems that Sheldon has gotten a lot of rotten deals...he signs with Curb records...then they never release anything until the contract is over.
He certainly has an attitude...and plays punk country...and death metal.
Though when he plays country music...he puts Jr to shame...you see his grand dad all over him.
I believe that Hank Sr would approve of the thirds behavior.
Hank has built all these walls around h8imself to keep the realitives out and his money and friends in.
It is sad...and spooky
Minnie Pearl, a friend of the late Hank Williams Sr., reportedly said "Lord, honey, you're a ghost,"
as she was astonished by his striking resemblance to his grandfather.[
