I liked a few of Darryl's songs. I think he was similar to a lot of other people who were popular when he was having the most success though. Like Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Aaron Tippin and some others. Just seemed like he kind of got lost in the shuffle.

He had his time frame when he got a lot of promotion. Then he went through the time frame where they tried to make him fit what they wanted him to be rather than who he was and I lost interest for awhile. Then he became himself again after they lost interest in him.
Seems to be a cycle.

I just got the new Toby Keith album today... Haven't listened to it yet though. I will let you know what I think.

I love that song "Haggard, Hank and Her". That is one of his best songs in a long time. Twenty years ago, that one would have been a classic.

Toby is such a good guy. Oklahoma is lucky to have him.

I missed the show that it talks about in the article because I didn't know it was on.
I know Toby did a lot to help after the Moore tornado. He raised a lot of money and just helped people in general I think. I hope Moore is fairing better after the tornado than my town has.

I was thinking about your tornado when I was watching the Toby clip.
Between the destruction of mother nature and the decimation of the coal industry, I know your hurting, big time.
Are there any hopeful signs?

Well, the biggest bank in town is currently being rebuilt and will be finished soon. There is also one of the main churches in town being rebuilt. Once those two things are finished, that's pretty much the end of the rebuilding. But a lot of businesses that were hit by the tornado were struggling anyway and probably wouldn't still be in operation by now even if the tornado had never happened. That's just how it's been in this area for years now. But what has really hurt us even more than the tornado is that one of our leaders was sent to federal prison on corruption charges (mostly unrelated to the tornado) and a year and a half FBI investigation. That was a major political blow and a personal blow to many since this man was widely considered a friend by many people. The current leaders are incompetent bozos. The county is broke and the leadership can't get along for five minutes to try to solve anything. I've been so busy writing about that I've barely been able to look up. I don't know what going to happen. I just hate that things have come to this. But times have always been hard in Eastern Kentucky. We'll get by.

I have faith in you Miranda. I know that doesn't mean that the path is easy.
Personal betrayals hurt the most.

I try to contribute as much as I am able to in my capacity. But sometimes it's sad.
