I'm still trying to get a grasp on operating this website so please bear with me. I was on familiar with Jelly Roll and struggle and that whole bunch until recently… it feels like it's the ugly underbelly of country music but country nonetheless because of his truthfulness. It certainly relate to how it is today what's the relationships that country folks have with city folks these days. So I can only imagine that is the reason Country music is incorporating rap music because it's the truth of today's listener. For me personally I have drifted back to the red dirt Texas Oklahoma music the music that my mom and dad always loved the music that I listen to growing up the Texas swing… And as far as I know it is still a pure form of music… I guess you could say that I like any of my music to be 100% straight from the heart. No pun intended😂

Along the way the same corporation that owned MTV also owned CMT. Employees transferred from one to the other and then there was the push for more monetary rewards for the former MTV artists. Plus there was the whole we really don't like who country people are and we'd like to replace their viewpoints.
It's been going on for a couple of decades now.
There was also the political power of the RAC. Those in the RAC wanted more money for the big moneymaking artists and they wanted to squeeze out the independents in the time frame independents were gaining ground with private record labels or going out on their own..
Basically those who wanted more influence, power and money won. Which isn't to say that it was everyone in the business. Some older artists kept on doing what they'd always done.
Then the MTV now CMT insiders expanded into the same direction as other progressives have.
I don't really care what they play on the radio now. I just listen to what I like. I think that's what more and more people do now.
Red dirt always pulls me in but I can't live there. So much of it is gritty and dark. I need to balance the dark with light.

I was listening to something...I think it was a Tanya concert with Shooter and Tanya was telling a story of how her bra broke before she went on stage and had to do the concert without it. She also had a lot of nice things to say about Waylon and Shooter.

Red dirt always pulls me in but I can't live there. So much of it is gritty and dark. I need to balance the dark with light. Wow thank you for that Jo.. Such a beautiful a written post I am in awe! The very best part is it it doesn't matter what they play on the radio that we just played what we like. Which brings me to the dilemma that I've run in to several times with Alexa being the focal point of any visit anywhere. I am sure I ruined last night by calling out requesting Dean Martin and the Conway Twitty… I thought it was appropriate for the occasion but the artists were not known. I suppose in less it's on the charts that isn't it is not worthy of a few minutes of time… In today's day and age I can certainly see that top… Time is of the essence and every minute counts... The lesson here is do not trade on other people's Alexa.🤣 but for my standpoint I have a whole bunch of minutes and nowhere to spend them so I will invests minutes into my musical literacy… For which I thankful to you for adding to my knowledge yet again.

Michael, There was a news article recently that Amazon music has removed a lot of what used to be available and placed it on the you pay another monthly service fee to listen to most of their music. It's part of their we've lost a ton of money by over expanding these past few years and now we have to cut waaaayyyy back. Especially on devices. We've never had Alexa because it feels creepy to have listening devices at home. That's just me though. My sister loves hers. I've been wondering what changes you've made in your life since you retired. My hubby retired late last year and we are mostly the same. Keeping in mind that he telecommuted full time since the beginning of Covid and half time for the decade before that. I've lost track of all the computer languages he had to learn over the decades. Seems like it was about 10.
A tidbit of info for the day. When he was still out to sea in the Navy he wrote code for an entirely new supply chain. They implemented it system wide. The award they gave him for that program said he saved the government a quarter million dollars. That was 30 some years ago. He's always been very good at what he did.

I love tidbits… it is very hard to comprehend the total loss that I have gotten during retirement. I'm sure your husband probably feels the same way is I when you come to the realization that your career is over… it basically feels like everything I have ever done a created has been put up on the shelf only to be admired from time to time… maybe on the rare occasions someone actually looks at the awards and listens to the success stories… much less though trauma stories. Everyone loves happy and I really understand that… so I retired three months after losing my wife and lost my entire social system from work friends and family. But it is OK because I know there are brighter days ahead that once you hit the bottom there's only one way to go and that's up! I remember some words you used to say long ago about their deeds being on them… That's on them. Those words really help me out thanks.

So I have been thinking about my retirement going forward and how I need to upgrade everything and make my home easier to manage. I have lost count of my Alexa devices and cameras and ring cameras and was told that you must sign way everything to get full benefits. So I went ahead and let Apple know everything… Let Amazon know everything… Let everyone know everything. I really don't care because I think they know everything anyway. I've been at this over a year now and I'm glad I got a running start on the new AI technology that's hitting us as we speak. It is so revolutionary what is gonna happen and what is happening. If you need a song written you just send a descriptive sentence and it comes out with the most beautiful song you could imagine… Music and all… with beautiful videos all by voice imagination. So not only is my home easier to manage by just walking through it yelling ordersbut I find it kind of comforting to know that there's someone there at all times. This reminds me I need to get back at it!🙏
