Shelly West was married to Lefty and David's brother Allen while she and David toured and sang together. I think Allen was in the band then. After the divorce Shelly walked away from the business for a very long time.
...and, of course, this is Keith Whitley singing his version/cover of Lefty's song.

I do remember that night that Dottie West got killed while trying to make it to the Opry one night. That was such a sad drawn out drama.
