Michael,
AI is definitely the thing now. Your engineering talent is, as always, fully developed. 👍
What do you think about the automated apartments with moving walls and a bed which rises on command to store at ceiling level?
We have what many people consider a small house, around 1200 sf if you count the garage. It’s a 3-2-1 ranch home. Three bedrooms, 2 baths, 1 car garage. I’m not sure I’d want to downsize to 300 sf.

Gosh… I guess that with enough money you could have anything… I definitely like the idea of pushing the button and changing my room. I have all the automatic drapes and blinds don't know if I could handle anymore… Then I think well yes I could… this technology blows my mind for about five minutes and then I'm ready to absorb more. I am not alone in this as I see the same reaction over and over like wow isn't that so cool… then the glaze and then the spark in the eye asking what's next. Even though tech is rolling out so rapidly I feel that is coming out slowly maybe too I have a somewhat level playing field before flying saucers start zooming right over our heads. I know I will be wishing that they would land so I can hop on board and takeoff. Sorry Jo... Yes reply was not intended to distract too far from the topic without bringing it home.I remember the corded phones back in the day when we just new that they would be screen on top just like the Jetsons with robots… the flipside would be the Flintstones and dinosaurs. Maybe it's at both eras are portrayed as such a pleasant and loving places compared to today's lifestyles. I think that 1200 Square foot with a garage is small… but it is all in perspective I believe that I could make a 300 square-foot home into something beautiful. I think if I paneled it with mirrors... And put a crystal chandelier in and with the right lighting I could make a 10 x 30 space perfect. I guess they're doing this in San Francisco to get homeless off the streets. We'll see how that works.

Michael,
One of the fun parts of conversation is following where it takes you. 👍
I think automatic drapes would be cool. Since our living room faces our fenced in back yard we have the patio doors with the slotted shades in between the two panes of the windows. It brings a lot of light into our living room and the shades are opened and shut by a sliding bar on the door. Actually two sliding bars. One to open and close the blinds and another to slide them completely up for full light.
Since we didn’t get a house until I was 40 we knew our family size was set. Since we’d lived in apartments for years it was more space then we were used too. Before we were transferred to DC we were supposed to be going to Rota, Spain. I’d already started figuring out our weight allowance to go there when hubby was hand picked for a duty station at BuPers.
To say I was tired of being in transition was an understatement. When we bought this house I was 40 and had moved 40 times in my life. I was seriously looking for what we could comfortably maintain for the long term.
Speaking of luxury, when we bought our Honda FIT’s several years ago they came with keyless ignition. It is so wonderful to just have your key in your purse and never have to get it out.

Well I'm still trying to get a handle on this site... But that's not unusual every time I have to download an app or something it's a learning experience. Think the drapes would be so beautiful in your Home Jo... I ordered mine on Amazon and it was really easy because they corrected be on a few mistakes I would've made and the quality of material is really nice and the way everything else is price these days I find it very reasonable. By the way Silver and gold is the bargain now as you could buy it really cheap with no taxes. Seems that the market is being flooded by people being hurt by the economy and needing to liquidate.. But I'm just sitting here waiting for the other shoe to fall where precious metals are poised to skyrocket… but if they don't they don't it's still holds its value. I guess that's the difference between conservatism and liberalism? I've told my liberal family where the bargain are and they're just not interested. Right now when the jobs are plentiful and people are paying the most this is the time to get out and work… and what do they want to do pay top dollar for a Starbucks cup of coffee and sitting on the laptop trying to tell me how I should live my life... But that's another song isn't it. Just like another thing I'm gonna have to buy to stay in the rat race is Lectric car something... I rented a car several years ago with a fob and drove all the way to Denver meet my sister at the Airbnb I was so excited that the fob ended up in a suitcase upstairs I found it the next day but that put up an immediate spin on the evening and kind of funny that because I didn't want to drive anymore anyway I was done. I did find the fob the next day... From then on it was up to me to do the total driving the entire visit . I have a Harley Davidson pick up made by Ford built in 2000 and I've yet to roll over 100,000 miles… I'm thinking about selling it… selling everything… and move somewhere like Scotland or Ireland where I wouldn't have to learn a new language just visit.

Michael,
Do you know people in Scotland or Ireland?
I don't drink coffee (has always upset my stomach) so I've never understood the appeal of Starbucks. As for liberal family members, oh my gosh, most of my husband's family members are artists. My SIL is a graphic artist who has long worked in book publishing in NYC. My husband's uncle taught art at a college in KC for decades before retiring. His cousin designs movie sets. An aunt painted. His grandmother was a painter. The things they have long held sacred exist in a different world than the one I grew up in. Early on there were attempts to teach me my place. Then they moved onto finding my life ....entertaining. Quaint. That's on them.
As for the economy, sheesh what a mess.

I think the best cuppa coffee I ever had was cooked on the campfire it was always just straight black… I guess that's because my dad drank it that way... Mom too. I remember them both smoking non-filtered cigarettes and drinking hot coffee in the cold Colorado evenings. When people say I shouldn't drink coffee played in the evening… I just nod and take another sip. It is just occurred to me that I brought a friend with me… Michael Mancina… who has terrible indigestion problems and is looking for a solution. I remember him mentioning that he drinks tons of coffee… it has probably gone way beyond simply upsetting his stomach. See Jo… your words have always meant something to me thank you for that.

Michael,
My hubby is a lifelong coffee drinker. It’s been his main beverage for years.
I grew up throwing up a couple of times a week at night. That continued through half of my 20’s until a co worker said that maybe my stomach had a problem with oil. I started rinsing food like hamburger after I cooked it to get the fat off and I quit throwing up all the time. I gave up food like lunch meat, hot dogs and sausage entirely. It was so nice not to wake up in the middle of the night to be sick. I think coffee is just oily enough to upset my stomach but not oily enough to make me barf. But if it’s something new for your friend it might be something different.

I'll pass this on to him… he's been struggling with digestion issues for years and is ready to throw in the towel. It's disheartening to see folks who are good but are headed down the rabbit hole. I can imagine it being sick all the time is enough to mess with your mental health. There are just so many ways that we can lose our self in today's society it all I can do is reach out and try to help. I don't know if it helps but it helps me to help.❤️

It's good to hear brothers together. : ) You're spoken words we're never so true to me. My older brother died of cardiac arrest in the front yard in 2015. His family had no idea what to do and could only sit there waiting on an ambulance. I think that the Red Cross and even YouTube gives courses on CPR... We should all learn that lesson before hand… Another lesson is to have a power of attorney... So easy to get now but impossible to get later. Just one of the Manyps in life that can be easily avoided.

Michael,
I'm so sorry you lost your brother. How many siblings do you have? I know you've mentioned your sister.
There were 4 of us kids. We lost my oldest sister when she was 20.
