Michael, I've been paying too much attention to politics and just yesterday decided to walk away from them for a week. That's me though. Sometimes I need a breather. The week will come and go and you know I'll jump back in. I always do.

OMG, Taylor is Olaf and I'm just nuts over Olaf. How cool is that.
I got a Olaf pillow for my birthday this summer. I just love his carrot nose.
Just last week I added an Olaf charm bracelet to the white bunny hanging from my rear view mirror in my car. Found it at the dollar store and it makes the perfect necklace for my bunny.

Michael,
I think it would be foolish not to believe that terrorists have been and are among the massive wave of migrants from the Middle East.
Did you read today where Obama says it might have been a bomb which caused the fatal explosion on the Russian plane?
Europe is in a world of hurt.

Oooooh...that is so true...Isis is very clever...I remember what you think of the word "clever" and I agree.
I also saw Ted Kopple on the news last night talking about his book that you suggested to me.
For some strange reason I think that he is spot on when he says terrorists are after out power switch.
He advised people to stock up and prepare...and went into detail of how the bad guys are all over this.
Talk all over the place about cyber crimes everywhere from every direction.
I feel that we as a people will survive no matter how hard the hit...we will survive...reminds me of that song by Gloria Gaynor.
I think that it would be obvious that Isis would strike at Russia for their participation in Syria...it has been deemed a missile so far.
Due to the metal from the plane having rips that turn into the plane vs metal that turns out which would indicate an internal explosion.
Seems that Russia and the US have two different game plans with the same goal...if we could all work together.
I also noticed that we are now thumbing our nose at China...and their 12 mile seafaring rule...what a mess.
Oppppps...Jo I forget that you need a break from this talk...sometimes it is too compelling though!

Michael, I know, I know...I am such a girl. My boys (hubby and son) tell me all the time. The good news is, son's fiance is "such a girl" too...so now I have company in all things cute. Chris Stapleton has written so many songs for so many people and he finally got a solo album out. For me, his singing is okay but not really my personal style but more power to the guy for following himself. I check out new music on Amazon.com and I've been reading reviews for quite a while now about how great Chris is. Honestly, I think the CMA's had an opening in their top lineup this time...and kudos to Chris for being the one to fill it. Blake and Miranda have been the "it" couple for country music and their very quickly done divorce changed the dynamics this summer. Personally, I think Miranda won the "who shall we choose" dynamics since she won Female vocalist. But they also needed a male vocalist...enter Chris. I really was an early Blake fan but now it sure does appear that he's started a new relationship while still married for the second time.

Michael, I've had my break from all of this stuff so I'm good. Spent a couple of days this week shopping. Tuesday was restocking my pantry and freezer for winter which I know seems odd considering we live in Houston but old habits. It's something I did for all of my life for practical reasons and now it's just comforting. Wednesday was Christmas shopping, which I like to have done before Thanksgiving. With so many people on our lists in so many states, I like to take all my packages to the post office on Black Friday while everybody else is out shopping. It's the time when the lines are the shortest at the post office and when you can mail the cheapest possible way and they still get there soon enough that people can enjoy them under their trees. I have Ted's book on my Christmas list (along with the new Patricia Cornwell, the new Michael Connelly and the new Janet Evanovich) so I haven't read it yet but it sounded really on spot. We are being hacked constantly now. There seems to be no such thing as safe data. So the Russian plane was likely a missile...do they know if it was ground to air or air to air? Have you also read about the ever growing population of African refugees who have been trying to get into Europe for some time and now have massive camps on the border, hoping somehow they'll make it across? What frustrates me most about the global warming people is that they live in the fear that changes in the weather will cause global unrest because of drought, flooding and other weather events. Yet, here with are, with global unrest on a massive scale and to them, global warming is still the number one threat for them. It is, IMHO, a complete disconnect from reality. We are in a world of hurt Michael. I see this morning the (IMHO, manipulated) numbers are out for employment so the Fed can raise the dang rates. Something they should have done long ago but oh no, we've gotta keep that free money flowing. Now Europe is taking up the free money so the US Fed will try and seize whatever little bit of momentum they can to do what has to be done . Did I mention our 401K went down 9.8% this past quarter. It's still got a plus for the year so if people look at their statements and just see the year to date, they won't get too excited. I have our funds split pretty evenly across the board and one sector only lost 9.3% this past quarter...the other three were 9.8%. I have a link for an article that I think you'll find interesting so I'll include it here rather than on the news thread. www.wsj.com/articles/big-banks-to-americas-companies-we-dont-want-your-cash-1445161083?alg=y

Taylor Swift doesn't need to worry about this expensive 'Shake It Off' lawsuit
Did Taylor Swift crib the concept of haters hating and players playing from a Los Angeles area non-denominational minister? That's what Jessie Braham is alleging in a lawsuit filed in federal court last week, one that's seeking $42 million in damages tied to Swift's supposed copyright infringement. Recording as Jesse Graham, Braham released a 2013 single called "Haters Gone Hate" that contains the choral phrase "Haters gone hate, playas gone play / watch out for them fakers, they'll fake you everyday."
Swift's 1989 hit was released the next year, and if you spent any time within earshot of a radio in 2014 you probably know the refrain: "'Cause the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate / and the players gonna play, play, play, play, play." In his complaint, Braham contends that "if Jessie Braham did not write the song 'Haters Gone Hate,' then Taylor Swift would not have written the song 'Shake It Off.'"
Let's set aside the extremely unlikely prospect that Swift was inspired by Braham's song. (His video has almost 400,000 views, but his YouTube channel has 26 subscribers; I'm confident Taylor Swift isn't one of them.) Let's also ignore the fact that "haters gonna hate" and its various permutations have been in wide online use for at least a half-decade. Know Your Meme's primer on the phrase's meme-based proliferation is decent, and 3LW's "Playas Gon' Play" lumped players and haters together in close company almost a decade before that. (It's actually plausible that Swift is familiar with that song, especially compared to Braham's.) Does Braham's suit have any legal merit with respect to copyright infringement?
Even if Swift really did pull from Braham, she's likely protected by fair use precedent
Even if Swift really did pull from Braham's "Haters Gone Hate" in writing "Shake It Off," a court would have to decide the obvious fair use question, and that seems to tilt in Swift favor. It's the kind of case that'd find a precedent in Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc., the landmark 1994 case that decreed 2 Live Crew's parodic usage of Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman" was acceptable under copyright law. "Shake It Off" isn't parodying "Haters Gone Hate," but the two songs are completely different beyond their lyrical similarity: the former is bright, sharp pop music, and the latter sounds like cut-rate R. Kelly rendered using only MIDI instruments. Swift's song is transformative enough to overcome the words it happens to share with "Haters Gone Hate."
In a text message sent this afternoon, Braham chose not to comment on the suit, promising a "statement will be released tomorrow." Unless that statement contains some kind of unexpected, revelatory proof of Swift's plagiarism, Braham's suit will realize its destiny as a relatively successful publicity stunt. And if it's true that Braham only filed the suit in the wake of a denied request for a selfie, it's safe to conclude he's never going to get that picture with pop's reigning queen.
