Elton Britt plays around a little bit about his "yodeler" in the beginning before he starts this song. I would LOVED to see have seen him in concert. Someone else I'd love to have seen in person was Jim Reeves. Two of my favorites that have been gone for years! Another one I would liked to have seen who has now gone on was Jim Ed Brown

He could hold his breath longer than anyone. He once won a breath holding contest. I forgot how long it was, but it was LONG! "The Jimmie Rodgers Blues" (I love this song and the way Elton Britt does it) Oh my gosh Jane, the man could SING. : ) Save

Jolene, I posted the longer version of "The Jimmie Rodgers' Blues" video on here earlier. It might be on the first page. I love that whole album...I've had it for a long time. Elton and another writer wrote that song. I think it's the neatest song and I love the guitar runs Elton does on it, too.
Jimmie Rodgers was Elton Britt' s idol. He heard Elton sing and yodel and called his Manager and publisher imploring him..."you'd better come out here and sign this kid up....he's gonna make bums out of all of us".
Elton was born with a heart problem and was plagued with heart problems all of his life. That's what eventually took his life. He was on his way to his concert and had a heart attack and died the next day in the hospital just a few days before his 59th birthday.
I just love this guy's singing and yodeling. Yodeling is almost a lost art. You don't hear it anymore...except from the old recordings we have from years gone by.

I'm loving this guy's singing and yodeling more and more if that's possible. I have been a fan of his ever since I was a very young girl and I just think he was so talented. He was one of those who left us way too soon at a few days before he turned 59 years of age. In this video he was 52 years old. He had the most versatile voice I have ever heard. He could sing any song he wanted to whether it was country, pop, blues, and the list goes on. In this video he sings 3 songs and Jimmy Dean chats with him just a little. I LOVE IT!

This is a still "live" version of "Cattle Call". Elton Britt did several shows back then that was recorded...not much on video. He did do 2 or 3 movies and I have one of them on a DVD called "Laramie". His part in it is a singing soldier and sings 2 songs "Chime Bells" and Molly Darling".

I love Jimmie Rodgers (the Singing Brakeman) and his songs. I especially love Elton singing "My Carolina Sunshine Girl". I've always loved Jimmie Rodgers and his songs, also. I love the fact that Elton Britt made the album he did of Jimmie Rodgers' songs. I just told my husband last night that I only wished that Elton would have recorded more of his songs. He did a great job on them...and the one he and his buddy (can't think of his name) wrote together " The Jimmie Rodgers Blues" is a masterpiece! I am so happy that I have that LP and a guy that owns a basically used record shop in Round Rock not too far from where I live copied it to a CD for me. He normally charges $20.00 to do that, but he did it for me for free! Don't ask me why because I don't know. I'll be posting some more of Jimmie Rodgers' songs from that album as I find them on youtube.
