Here's a song Elton Britt does of Glen Campbell. I think he does a great job on it, but I think he does a great job on everything he did.

For the life of me I could never understand why this guy wasn't ever inducted into the "Country Music Hall Of Fame" He was the very first Country Music entertainer to be presented with a gold record and that was for "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere" which eventually sold 4 million records. He was nominated two times. He had such a versatile voice and he sung with such emotion.
"Step Into My Soul"

Elton Britt was born James Elton Baker, James, after his father, and Elton, in honor of a local doctor, Dr. Elton Wilson who managed to keep him alive his first year of life. Elton was what is now known as a "blue baby" and was plagued with heart trouble all his life. Born: June 27, 1913 Died: June 22, 1972
Elton Britt's List of Awards and Honors: (that I know about) Awarded Country Music's very first Gold Record for "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere" America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame (2005) Western Music Association Hall of Fame (1990) Awarded a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame for his recording Composer, singer, songwriter, and author, he joined ASCAP in 1946 and composed popular country and western and cowboy songs. . I'll say it again...I love Elton Britt's singing and yodeling, and don't understand why he hasn't been inducted into the "Country Music Hall of Fame"' Should have been years ago when he was nominated 2 different times!

Jane,
He really held onto his yodel in the Jimmie song.
I have no idea why he wasn’t inducted. It’s hard to understand the logic sometimes.
I had barely heard of the guitar shaped swimming pool guy (Webb Pierce) until a few years ago and he was really successful in his day.

Jolene, I actually saw Webb Pierce in person back in the early 50's at a concert in San Antonio and I wasn't impressed with him. It was one of those package shows with George Jones and a few others. When it was time for him to come out on stage to sing he came to the side of the curtain and put his hand up to his mouth and bent forward in a gesture like he felt like throwing up. So he didn't sing. It was speculated that he had too much to drink is why he couldn't sing.

Hiya Jane,
Webb was before my time but I understand the feeling. I went to see George Jones in....must have been the late 70's...and he was so drunk he fell off the stage. Good thing the stage was only a foot high. It was at a low point for him where he was touring in places like American Legion clubs. Maybe 30 people in the audience.

Jolene, oh yeah! George Jones was known for his drinking, etc. His wife Nancy was credited for "turning" him around and basically saving him from destroying himself. Fortunately I never saw him when he was under that influence. I did see him later at the Austin Rodeo and he put on a real good performance. I am so glad my husband and I got to see him and Merle Haggard before they passed on. Also, I got to see Eddy Arnold right after I graduated from high school and got his autograph on a picture of his house. I still have it. Two singers I wish I could have seen before they passed on were Elton Britt and Jim Reeves.I love those 2 guy's singing and Elton's yodeling. Jim Reeves had to be the smoothest singer ever. Don Williams was close as he was smooth, also. Boy! I sure got off topic on THIS thread!

You are indeed a lucky girl Jane. I would have loved to have seen Eddy Arnold. My mom was a Jim reeves fan so I grew up listening to and loving his voice. Don stayed wonderful all his life. I love his newer music as much as I love his older music.
Happy New Year 😀
....and Elton should indeed be in the Country Music Hall of fame.

Another video of Elton Britt. This one apparently from another Jimmy Dean TV show. That's a really flashy suit he has on for a country boy from the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas!

He saved the almost yodel for the end in that one. Definitely a shiny suit.

Just a note to say the video 'Home Sweet Homesick Blues' was from Jimmy Dean's 1966 TV Show. There's another song Elton did on that same show I will be posting when I'm not on my Kindle like I am right now. There's too many things I can't do on it.
