Don't know if I've posted this before...sorry if I have. There's more to this article at the link I posted. www.mylot.com/post/2926065/ten-acts-who-belong-in-the-country-hall-of-fame-there-are-moreTen Acts Who Belong in the Country Hall of Fame: There Are More May 6, 2016 7:05pm CSTElton BrittOver the past week and a half I've been chronicling ten singers, bands, authors, executives, and songwriters that I feel are long overdue for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Before I get to the top of the list, though, I hasten to point out that it's not just these ten who are missing. There are definitely others. Elton Britt: the man who earned the first gold record in country music history, for 1942's rally-round-the-troops song "There's a Star-Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere," had a career that began before that massive hit and continued to shortly before his death in 1972. Others listed are: Al Dexter Johnny Horton Moon Mullican The Stanley Brothers Rodney Crowell Roseanne Cash
************************************************************************************************************ ***My input is Elton Britt definitely belongs in the "Country Music Hall of Fame". He has been nominated 2 or 3 times and what a career he HAD. I've been a fan of his ever since I first heard him sing "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere" and "Chime Bells" when I was a teenager many years ago. ***The author of this article for some reason only listed 7 with the inclusion of Elton Britt.

Here's another article thatnashvillesound.blogspot.com/2010/11/consideration-for-2011-country-music.htmlMonday, November 1, 2010 A Consideration For 2011 Country Music Hall Of Fame Nominees Elton Britt. If we can induct (rightfully, in my opinion) Vernon Dalhart for having the first million-seller in country music history and Patsy Montana for being the first woman to sell a million, then Elton Britt can also be inducted for having the distinction of being the first recipient of a gold record awarded to a country song ("There's a Star-Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere," 1942). Britt's career, however, was much more than that: a superb yodeler and movie actor (he appeared in western films in the 40s) who continued to chart until shortly before his death in 1972. I applaud this article and think it should still happen!!!!

Jolene, thank you for adding the video that didn't post for me. I don't know why that happens sometimes.

If this works I'll be shocked! It's a video of the Jimmie Dean TV Show with Elton Britt in 1965. Sorry it didn't work!
Is this the right one Jane?

Thanks for your help. Elton Britt was also on Jimmy Dean's 1966 TV show, but I haven't been able to find it. I agree with Jimmy Dean when he said Elton Britt was King of the yodelers.

I haven't had much luck posting these anymore so I feel certain this won't either! It's a Jimmy Dean Show that has Elton Britt on it....and it's the full length Jimmy Dean Show from 1965 with Elton Britt singing 3 songs...with the third one late in the show, but two up close to the front of it. I'm happy I got to see the whole show. Elton comes out singing a little bit of his famous song "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere" and the very first Country GOLD record ever given to a country artist.

Jane,
I'm so glad I got the opportunity to watch the video you posted. It was all the things country music should be. Heartwarming, loving, inspirational and fun. Jimmy really got me at the very end with his IOU's to his mom.

Jolene Jolene, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish someone would or could put the 1966 Jimmy Dean TV Show on YouTube. I don't think it's on there though. Elton Britt is on it, also.

Jane,
It would be sweet if someone would post that episode.
I'm posting this video (of the same song we just heard) because of the comments people posted under it Be sure and read the one Phil Schutt posted 4 years ago. I learn so much by listening and reading what other people know.

This is a list of Elton Britt's inductions etc. and Radio Stations he was on.... some with his own show. It blows my mind that he's never been inducted in the other Country Music Hall of Fame.

Jolene, if you mean during the snow storm....we lost our electricity for several days and had to spend that time with our oldest son and his wife. How about you? That's the one Jane. It was sleet and ice for us but other people got snow.
I'm so glad you are okay. I'm glad you spent the time with your oldest son and his wife.
We were very lucky. We lost power and water for about 3 days but our pipes didn't explode and our ceilings are still intact. A lot of people in our neighborhood are living in campers in their driveways. The street is piled with debris which they keep picking up 12 hours a day 6 days a week. The stores have food limits again and a lot of empty shelves. The usual disaster area stuff we've all lived with again and again.
We are on the list for the plumber a week from today. We have water in half our house. It's workable and better than so many other people. We likely have rocks in our pipes somewhere. The city water lines froze but I had been up late and kept using water so when the city froze our pipes were likely empty. The rocks and sand settled in there somewhere.
We have been truly lucky.
Sure am glad you are okay. The cold was brutal.
Jolene
