Well here we go...again!
Thought I would start a thread about music that has a personal story behind it.
Oh...did I mention...you have to mention your story behind the song.
Now lets all watch this thread sink like a... (you can fill in the blank)!

Clinton Gregory was my favorite country artist when there were so much talent to choose from.
This was in the early 90's...remember all the artists that were in the game then?
But Clinton was one that stood out...to me anyway...he was the real deal.
This is his first time on the Opry...I find it entertaining...just music.

This next tune probably shot himself in the foot...but it was the truth...still is.
When he came on the scene the videos were just coming out....so the music had to speak for itself.
His music is still speaking for itself...still carrying the legacy in a true proud form.

This will be my last video of Clinton Gregory....maybe not...the dude is good.
Not long after we first saw him... a car rolled over him in West Virginia...I think...messed him up bad.
I guess he is still playing...and playing better than ever I might add.
The accident is apparent is his looks...fortunately looks should be unimportant in music.
I still wonder what some of the people looked like while I was growing up.
Though music is all about looks now a days...I think Clinton should make a comeback.
Spoiler alert...he did!

Michael,
I completely missed Clinton until you posted about him today. He is very good and exactly my favorite style of country...heavy fiddle story songs.
In the early 90's we lived in Virginia/DC and country radio there (at that time anyway) was absolutely nothing like country radio in the other places we've lived. I don't remember a single "twang" from that time frame that I didn't own on CD. You don't know how glad I was to move to Texas and turn on country radio here. : )
I think it's a great thread and I hope you post more on it...I'll be reading. I especially love the personal story part. Music is personal.

Michael,
Got sidetracked but I meant to start off by saying that there's only us few folks here so nothing really ever gets pushed to the bottom and I'm too curious by far to let a new post go by without clicking on the thread and seeing where people's muse takes them. : )
My personal way of posting is a meandering sort of thing where, if the timing and the mood is there, I go with it, enjoying the music and alternatively frustrating myself by trying to learn what the heck is going on in the world....because the news thread is really about me trying to learn. There is so very much I don't know and understand.
Follow your muse....the rest is all gravy.

Also congratulations on becoming a Hall Of Famer...someday I may know the feeling too. It seems as if we have a 3 way race in this category...competition is good.

I especially love the personal story part. Music is personal. Thanks Jo...here is a little more about him... Born in Martinville, VA, Clinton Gregory came from a long line of fiddle players. He picked up the fiddle at five years old and made his performing debut at bluegrass festivals within a year. He came to Nashville at age 12, where his father, Willie Gregory, was playing at the Grand Ole Opry. When word of Clinton's fiddle prowess got around in Nashville, he was rarely without a steady gig and played on numerous studio sessions that included Dennis Robbbins, the McCarters, and Suzy Bogguss. In 1990, Step One Records signed him to their label. His debut single, a rendition of the Jimmie Davis classic "Nobody's Darlin' But Mine," was followed by a string of country singles, including "Couldn't Love Have Picked a Better Place To Die," "One Shot at a Time," and the Top 20 hit "Play Ruby Play," which was also a video hit on both CMT and TNN. He is still touring with Marty Raybon...Marty Raybon is the lead singer for Shenandoah. He was also produced by Keith Stegall who is great in his own right. Try as I might I can't find the story of where he was ran over by his car.

Man I am missin me some biscuits and gravy...I wonder if Koras lawyer beau has ever et this specialty? It seems as if the best music is made in times of need...like disasters etc. Vince Gill hasn't written a great song since hitching up with Amy...he said that he is too happy to write.

Does anyone remember "Katy and Al in the morning" on TNN in the early 90's"?
They were one of the first video V.J.'s for country music ...competing with MTV.
They were the best...real authentic people...I recorded a lot of shows on VHS.
I was sure to watch every time I got the chance.
That was when Lorrianne Crook and Jim Owens ran Nashville...they were a power couple.
More about that and my dream of Lorrianne later.

Now...to give a little pity to y'all...let me introduce you to Dan Reeder.
To me he is the most all around talent in the world...really is in my opinion.
When I first heard this guy sing...I thought...pretty good lyrics...but foul language.
I think that is why he was never commercial...but I can't figure him out.
He makes his own instruments...plays all the instruments...does his own vocals in loop.
He does it all...from start to finish...I'm finished!
