Michael,
I love, love, love the fiddle and I've been a fan of Keith Stegall for quite a long time. He just worked with Aaron Watson on his new "Underdog" album.
I found a used copy of Keith's "Passages" album at the used book store along the way and thought, dang, I know he's worked with Alan Jackson all these years but talk about two peas in a pod. I just tried to find an audio link online for "Boo Hoo" but I guess it hasn't made it online.

Michael,
Kora's lawyer friend sounds like quite the cook....I'll bet he can make some deeee lish ous biscuits and gravy. : )
Back in high school, when I worked at the local truck stop, truckers would stop by regular for the biscuits and gravy...didn't matter that it was supper time, those biscuits and gravy kept on callin' 'em.
I don't remember Katy and Al at all but in the early 90's, there was a lot of purple dinosaur (Barney), Lamb Chop and Thomas the Tank Engine on the tv at our house. See how lovely this thread is, gave me a chance to watch clips and see them live and in their element.
Dan Reeder is new to me too....quirky and interesting. Loved those little boys in the "Beer" video....so adorable.
I'm looking forward to wherever you go next.

He certainly was a star in his own right...so many artists that have came and gone...some are still going and going strong. Passages was a great album...I think he was the greatest producer for some time...and apparently still is with Aaron. An album that goes #1 with no big promotion should make a statement so profound that others are sure to follow. Aaron may be blazing his own trail...I like that !

I try to not judge people by how they cook...if I did I would be thrown out to eat with the dogs. Though I would judge my partner on how well that they prepare cornbread...and buttermilk. So Kora...run this test...cook some beans and bacon piled on some fried taters with cornbread and an onion on the side. Use plenty of real butter on everything...maybe a dash of apple butter for desert. Then later when it has settled...have a glass of cornbread and buttermilk with salt and pepper on top. Now if he eats it up and wants more...then Kora dear...you may have a keeper after all. That is just the kind of razzing that was on Katy and Al...I would take the VHS tapes and watch them underway. Now Dan Reeder speaks German...he has it bad...but sings in American...I may start a fad by not saying English. Though his songs mean nothing...the feeling is there...makes me feel something every time. To play all these different instruments that he created by hand in his shop is somehow mesmerizing. Jo I know that you know all about these things...but I worry about your son finding these traits in a companion now-a-days. O.K. I know that people have heard of Tootsies Orchid Lounge...see ya there!

One of our first trips to Nashville we did the whole tourist thing and ended up in Tootsies about 2 in the afternoon.
I wasn't much of a drinker but you know you have to have something in your hand while you look at the artifacts.
You know all the names carved in the tables and writing on the wall...guilty!
No one was in Tootsies and I felt pressure to order another one so we went upstairs...to another littler bar.
Only one old man upstairs...he was kinda drunk and frail...he told me "give her your keys."
I asked him why...he said..."You are old enough to drink aint cha boy?"
So I ordered another beer my wife was steaming...ready to go.
We talked for just a little bit and shook his hand...and we were gone.
We later found out that it was Harlan Howard!!!!!!!!!!!Who is he you ask?
Only the greatest songwriter that has ever walked in the greenest pastures of country music!
I later wrote him asking for an autographed photo...and telling him about our meeting.
He wrote back saying that he remembered it and wishing me good luck in songwriting.
I have the photo and note in a frame along with all my other musical memories.

nash - I didn't know about being a Hall of Famer until you mentioned it. I AM getting older but not that old. LOL!
Nope, no stories. The reason I know a little about old country is from hours and hours of listening to it with my aunt. She has a wonderful collection of old country music.
Hey, my lawyer friend does not like biscuits and gravy or country music. It was a big sacrifice for him to go to George's concerts with me. Of course, there were always paybacks. I had to attend his legal activities that were supposed to be social gatherings, and you've never heard so much legalese--so technical that you want to scream. LOL
Oh, and my friend is not much of a cook. I would rate myself as having medium qualifications, but I am getting better. Who knows, I may end up being a tiny bit gourmet before I turn 40. LOL! Now, if I could think of a song that tells about it.

Thinking this morning about you guys...and how much better this place is compared to facebook.
Do you think anyone really cares about your face...people only show faces of glee or gloom.
A place like this I can make a fool of myself...you know I gotta be me...who else can I be?
I started listening to some Billy Joe Shaver this morning which led me to his son Eddy Shaver.
Eddy plays a Fender Stratacastor which my new/old Padre friend just bought and is showing off.
While looking for some single guitar solos of Eddy I ran across Patty Loveless.
She was singing about Harlan County which reminded me of Harlan Howard...and now Miranda.
Which led me back home to this place called "Forum"...lol
Now I am wondering what happened to these classic folks like Patty etc...
The next three videos are of the same song sang 3 different ways...enjoy!
