nash - I was pleased for Taylor that she won the Pinnacle Award, and it was also so nice of George, Tim and the others to stand on stage to pay their respects in honoring her. She has been everywhere and is deserving of the award. She's also a sweetie and a cutie. You could tell she enjoyed taking it all in.
Did you see her dancing at her seat to all of the uptempo music?

It was very nice to see all the big names onstage with her...that was so nice Kora. I can think of other artists that have crossed paths with her in her trek to the top. In fact I can't think of any country artist that she hasn't met or had an impact on in her career. About her dancing...did you know that she is taking dance lessons everyday? Her knees ars all skinned up and she trains for hours. I know that a lot of folks think that she should be taking singing lessons...and I agree. That said...after watching her dance moves...were I her... I would march back into the studio and demand my money back for the lessons! I am not a dancer...I am more like George in Pure Country ...but I was not impressed with her bopping. lol ;D

nash - I didn't know about the dance lessons. She probably thinks she needs to add that to her performances. I think, though, her fans will like whatever steps she does on stage. LOL!
As far as singing lessons, I don't think she needs them. At this point in her career, I think she's better than when she started out, and her fans love her singing. IMO, I would like to hear a few country songs without pop/rock influences.

I remember in the Country Weekly forums "The Taylor Swift Connection"...I see that Vince agrees with me! Vince Gill: “I love Taylor. Does she make me think of Loretta Lynn and Kitty Wells? Never. But that’s okay. She has something that’s so compelling, people are drawn to it and you can’t deny that. That’s what makes it great. I don’t think she’d stand there with a straight face and tell you, “I can sing like Mariah Carey.” She doesn’t have to. History is full of people that weren’t knock-your-socks-out-I’m-the-greatest-singer-that-ever-lived. But she connects. And that’s what I like. I love things that connect to people. There are people who can play me under the table, sing me under the table. But there’s nothing about them that’s going to move somebody. That’s the point of anything musical. To have a conversation.”

nash - I really enjoyed the photos. I like the one at the left and, especially the shoes. Taylor looks glamorous in that outfit. She could be a model. Clothes can really make a big difference in a person's appearance. The average person can't afford the outfits celebrities wear. LOL!
I can do without the photos with the fkying hair, but that seems to be in now. Carrie Underwood has a lot of hair flying when she performs. The more she shrieks (Taylor doesn't shriek), the more her hair blows. LOL! I wish she would stop yelling, but that seems the be the trend with female intertainers, also. I don't think I will ever be a fan of yelling by females.

Thanks Kora...those photos were neat. But I find it hard to believe that she is still out doing herself in looks and the world of music.

[glow=red,2,300] "It's gotten to the point where each one is a reinvention," Swifts says of her albums
"Red" sparked Taylor Swift to reach out to prominent writers to expand her musical palette and she intends to keep making those calls for the follow-up.
"I'm really loving collaboration right now," Swift told Billboard during a quick stop in Los Angeles to support her song "Sweeter Than Fiction" from the film "One Chance." "I see it as a bit of an apprenticeship. I want to be around people who love writing songs and have done it for years. Every time I'm in a studio I'm learning, like how to build a drum track, and getting a new perspective on things. It's so thrilling to keep learning on your fifth album. Related Articles

"As soon as (an album) comes out I'm figuring out what the next one will be. It's gotten to the point where each one is a reinvention, which is what I like best. I like it when it sounds new and people don't know where you're going to go next."
Swift flew to L.A. to attend the Society of Composers and Lyricists' holiday gala on Dec. 18 fresh off the conclusion of a stadium tour of Australia. "Sweeter Than Fiction," her end-credits song for the story about "Britain's Got Talent" winner Paul Potts, received a Golden Globe nomination on Dec. 12; she is also up for four Grammys.
After the Weinstein Co. screened the film for Swift she started writing a song from Potts' wife's perspective. Once she had a lyrical hook and a working title, she collaborated with fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff to finish writing the song and produce it. It is only the second song she has written for a film and she figures there's good reason to do more.

"I think it's a bit of a relief to take the focus off of my own life," she says. "It can get pretty intense writing (personal) details -- that's a very vulnerable place to put yourself in. But there's a specific type of thrill you get from that recounting of your life. There's a different kind of thrill you get hoping you have accurately portrayed someone else's emotions that you're seeing so well done by these actors, James Corden and Mackenzie Crook. The actors did such a great job it was fairly easy to get inside their heads."
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas...and... Happy New Year !!! [/glow]

Taylor Swift Crowned Tennessean of the YearBy Coti Howell December 30, 2013 tasteofcountry.com John Sciulli, Getty Images Taylor Swift has been given another big honor before 2013 comes to a close — the star has been Tennessean of the Year! Crowned by the Tennessean, Swift truly is in a league all her own. She may not be a native Tennessean, but she’s called the state home for a decade now. At the age of 16, Swift started in the music business and has yet to look back! The Nashville newspaper even claims that Swift has made “the most graceful transition from teen stardom to adult music career since Brenda Lee.” But none of these are the reasons why she won the Tennessean of the Year honor. Instead, it’s because Swift continues to carry the Nashville name in pride worldwide and is an ambassador for Tennessee’s capital city. This year, Swift opened the Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame — with a $4 million donation from the singer herself. She also wrote a big check to the Nashville Symphony for $100,000, since the organization has suffered financially in 2013. “For her to believe in us, the hometown institutions, and to be focused on Nashville speaks volumes,” Kyle Young, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, says of Swift (quote via GAC). “How often do you think she’s approached to do things, all over the world? So it means so much for her to believe in us and think that investments here would help the city she clearly cares so much about.” It’s no surprise that while touring the globe and traveling internationally, Swift brings the name of Nashville along with her. She also strives to be a positive role model for young women everywhere. These are the reasons why she’s been given the crown of Tennessean of the Year.

Hey you all...I missed you dearly. For awhile I just shut down...put away all my digital toys...then I couldn't log in for some reason...then today I saw the option upgrade account! walla now I am back in...like it or not.lol I really thought about all of you and wondered how your lives have been going...I suppose I worry too much.I know that some of you have been through a lot...actually we all have I am sure. I want you to know that I am here I you feel the need to cry on someones shoulder. This forum "Country Music Scene" is a really tight group...so why not spill the beans. You know that my time away has seemed like an eternity...I haven't even kept up with the latest country videos...or songs. I do know that Willie and Billy Joe Shaver have new music that is really really good. Can't wait to get them on vinyl and hear how it sounds! I feel badly about George Strait quitting the touring scene and James Otto never really getting his due. But they both love music and I can't imagine them ever quitting creating. Oh then there is Taylor...just saying her name in country music draws bad vibes...her next album will be even further away from the genre before. So please don't be disappointed if I don't mention her as much as before. You know I really enjoy living the simple life...I feel stronger and way more fulfilled than when I planted myself in front of the computer and literally wasted away the hours. Now I hear my old dogs barking wanting me to come out to play...I need to cut up some trees that are down from the strong winds last week. My work to them is play...I don't know how but I have such a strong connection to their unconditional love than most people. Needless to say I wrote a song titled "Why Don't You Treat Me Like A Dog" I love the message...we should all treat each other like dogs. At least I have tore down the walls...past the writers block...crossed another barrier...with a little blood sweat and a lot of tears. Peace and love be with all my friends here...oh yeah...and a whole lot of great music! youtu.be/GmEGdjh-0Do What do you all think about my latest muse? >>> youtu.be/1RBkteeLE9U

Welcome back, Nash. I chuckled when I read "This forum "Country Music Scene" is a really tight group." Where is the group? LOL! Practically no posters.
As usual I am a lost duck Kora...I suppose you and Tops and Monk and Holly and of coarse Kim seem to be the real regulars around here. Since the real cowboy has ridden away there is probably a huge part of your heart missing. Then there is Taylor...since she surpassed Carrie a long time ago there is no longer any competition there. I look forward to watching "The Giver" they gave her a leading role there. I suppose that you have heard of all the houses that she is buying...that mantion in Rhode Island for 17 million and the flat in NYC for 50 million and the place in L.A. and Nashville. My dad used to tell me that if I ever had some money to buy land because God is not making anymore. I bet Taylors dad told her the same thing...there is nothing wrongto listening to your folks. With the exception of a few...they should know a lot more that us youngins. I mostly have been hanging out with these old Taylor fans in a private no troll group. Believe it or not I am one of the young ones...they are mostly sucessful business men and women. Not that it matters to me...I would really like to hang out with good old cow folk. lol...I take that back...today our department is having a western dinner that I refuse to go to. I shouldn't hold a grudge against Western folk but the way that country music has used Taylor then kicked her to the curb...really tans my hide. I mean she has a good heart and is true to her fans still...and never once have I heard her complement herself the way Underwood has done...now Carrie has grabbed Miranda Lambert as she is swirling down the stool. Thanks to Taylor they now have a website called Rolling Stone Country...very classy place.I must hide now I see some fellow workers coming my way in cowboy hats and jeans wanting me to eat some cornbread and beans! Anyway it's nice talking to you Kora...here is the latest photo of Taylor in NYC today!
