Let us know about the Grisham book, Kora. I'm on a waiting list for it. I've read a lot of his books. My favorite is The Last Juror. Miranda - Loved "The Last Juror." Just started "Gray Mountain." Think it will be a good one. Surprised you're on the waiting list. I got it easily at the library, no holds. A lawyer loses job at hugh law firm and works at legal aid clinic in Virginia for one year without pay. She prepares a coal mining lawsuit that results in sinister actions. Typical Grishasm.

I think I've been on a waiting list ever since it came out. If the book ever became available to me then I didn't receive notification of it.

Mike,
I put a hold on the Paul Johnson book at my local library. It's the only one of the 4 they have. They do have the follow up of Eagle Against the Sun....In the Ruins of Empire.

I just watched all three of the Godfather movies this weekend on AMC. I had never seen them before. Loved the first one because it covered the events of the book. The second one picks up where the book left off, and it was good. The third one probably should have never been made. I'm still reading The Last Don by Puzo. Haven't had a chance to make much progress on it in the past few days.

I didn't make it past the Sunday newspaper and the regular (snail) mail this weekend. Got all my errands ran though.
Did pick up the Paul Johnson book off of hold from the library.

Rhett was quite a man. : ) Have you read Rhett Butler's People or Ruth's Journey? Both are by Dan McCaig. Ruth's Journey is Mammy's story. It was a little hard to get into then suddenly I couldn't put it down.

Sometimes I get so busy and it takes me a week to read a book like "Gray Mountain" by John Grisham--about coal companies ruining Appalachia and a NY lawyer who loses her Wall Street job and works for no pay at a Virginia legal aid clinic. She prepares a lawsuit, and it gets dangerous.
It starts off great, then gets bogged down and a little boring for me. Could have been a great book.

It was a little hard to get into then suddenly I couldn't put it down. I hadn't even heard about them until now. I read "Gone With the Wind" when I was eleven or twelve years old and hadn't given it a lot of thought since then. It's probably the Kansas thing. It was always a free state. After the Civil War, there was a movement for former slaves to move there. Nicodemus was always about an hour on the highway from where I grew up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicodemus,_Kansas It was a different culture than the south had.
