I'm reading Stuart Wood's latest Stone Barrington novel "Insatiable Appetites".
The whole series is about a former homicide detective turned messy case but high powered attorney and his best friend and ex-partner (from when they were both cops). They bounce around the world with President's, the head of the CIA, foreign intelligence agents and Stone, the main character, always has a new beautiful woman with a constantly changing cast of bedmates. Lots of sex in the books but the ladies tend to have a short life span....both literally and figuratively. Kind of like the James Bond ladies.
It's a very slick series and always quick easy reads. I've been reading them for years and years and years. The book jacket says Stuart has written 58 books now. They tend to run about 300 pages and you can finish one off easily in an evening...if you aren't busy reading an online music board or watching Season 5 of the Ghost Whisperer on Netflix. : )

Jo - I also read the Stone Barrington books. They are easy readings and he's your sophisticated man-about-town. LOL! I'm currently reading The Cinderella Murder by Mary Higgins Clark. It's about a TV producer who does shows about unsoved murders in hopes of revealing the murderer.

Kora,
My sister loves Mary Higgins Clark.
Have you read any Nevada Barr or Dana Stabenow?

It sounds like this Stone Barrington character might be similar to Robert B. Parker's Spenser or Raymond Chandler's Phillip Marlowe. Have you guys read any of those books?

I haven't...I think Stone probably gets around with the ladies more though. There's a whole lot of semi-casual sex in the Stone books. Everyone is adult and it's all above board but casual and changing bed partners in a central theme.

The main thing is, does he leave them all happy? LOL

I think I read one of the Bosch books years ago, but I can't remember which one it was. This one I'm currently reading keeps mentioning this guy named Backus, like he was a killer they dealt with in the past? I vaguely remember that name and I'm thinking he was an FBI agent gone bad. Like, he was committing the crimes and also helping the cops work the crimes at the same time. Does fhat ring a bell with you?

I need to go back and read these books from the beginning after I read the one I'm currently into. I don't know why they would assign the 10th book in a series for a book club, when we haven't read the other books as a group. i went out of town to a library book sale today. I got two books. An old one called Gorky Park about a Russian serial murder investigation. I had this teacher in high school who told me 15 years ago that this was the greatest murder mystery she ever read, and I've always wanted to read it since then.
