Wednesday...and we had steady rain overnight but the mess of Imelda has been south and east of us. 20 miles south of us they've had 19 inches of rain.
Still keeping Bermuda in my thoughts and prayers as Humberto (now a cat 3) fills their day today. Jerry has been named and it looks to be an off the east coast event so far.
I read that Randy Travis is going to tour again. I didn't expect that. I'll have to google more info.
Edited to add: I googled and it's definitely a misleading headline. Randy will be touring with someone named James Dupre filling in for Randy. Randy's original band will be there. I guess that means that Randy is just along for the ride and maybe a short stage appearance. I've always loved Randy but no, that's not something I'd go to a concert for.

Thursday...and Conroe, the Woodlands, Winnie and Beaumont are flooded. Winnie is evacuating their hospital and Doppler confirms they just passed Hurricane Harvey level flooding. Beaumont has been cut off and flooded for the last 5 hours. Conroe has been getting 5 inches of rain an hour this morning. Humble and 59 had 60 mph winds this morning. Imelda's eye is 100 miles north of Houston now but the rain bands are what usually get us. I-10 is closed east of Houston because the main lanes have water up to the semi's beds. It's a mess.
Michael...I'm keeping your loved ones in my prayers.

My condolences to everyone who know and love the people on Josh Turner's crew bus that crashed.
Keeping our Beaumont country artists in my prayers today. Tracy Byrd, Mark Chesnutt, Zona Jones. Beaumont is flooded. Everything east of Winnie is pretty much a river.

Friday ...and I think everyone here has weather fatigue. Saw a dead armadillo and a dead possum on the street this morning.
Skies here (at least where I am) are blue today.

Saturday...and we had jalapeno popper chicken casserole for lunch with salad. Hubby is taking a much deserved nap and I'm doing laundry. It's pretty laid back. Last night we watched the new MIB movie. So good.
Have a lovely weekend.

Thursday...and my thoughts this week have been about our sons engagement party this coming weekend. It’s complicated. I don’t really understand the ceremonial stuff. There are language barriers. Basically we aren’t Chinese and the bride’s family is.

Saturday...and Big Tex has been found. Big Tex is a 14 foot gator who lives at a sanctuary in Beaumont. When Beaumont flooded last week with Imelda the sanctuary was flooded and Big Tex and a bunch of other gators weren't anywhere to be found. They found Big Tex yesterday in a retaining pond and were getting the dozen people it takes to corral and move him back to the sanctuary.

My thought of the day is...heck, who can think? Definitely time for some music. Think I’ll have some tomato soup for lunch first.
Be well.

Hey there Jolene! It's so good to see you on here! I come checking periodically to see if you are here or been here.
I don't remember if I have told you about our fourth great-grandchild. We now have....2 girls and 2 boys. We went to see them Christmas. Our grandson and his wife have given us 4 beautiful great- grandkids.
Sure hope you are doing well!

Hey there Jane, it's so good to see you posting.
Babies and especially grandbabies and great-grandbabies are the sweetest of all possible sweetness in the world. I know you had the bestest Christmas visit ever with so much new love to share.
We are all good here. I hope you and yours are too. The world is changing so quickly now.
This year I had given a lot of thought of what to give up for lent. I wanted it to be something that I would be reminded of in the spirit of the season. I decided to give up going into stores. I haven't been in a store since before Ash Wednesday.
Three weeks in our daily yogurt cups have been replaced with pudding cups. Our last apples were eaten yesterday so now we begin with frozen and canned. Our almond milk should last another couple of weeks. I made a lot of breakfast sandwiches with eggs early on for the freezer and the eggs we have left I'm probably going to freeze in ice cube trays for recipes which need them as a binder.
My plan was to make it through Easter but, I don't know, maybe a bit longer until they reboot the grocery stores for the people who are just now shopping and stocking up.
Are the grocery stores wiped out where you are too?

Thursday and I see that the railroad crossing near our house just cleared after being blocked for 43 minutes. It happens so often here I signed up for the email notifications. A year or so ago they doubled the tracks all up and down the highway a mile or so from our house. Mostly they run freight but we do have cross country passenger rail that goes on that line also.
COVID-19 is all around us and has been for weeks. The Houston Rodeo gave us community spread. I'm sure it's the same most places now.
I'm trying to decide how to use the rest of our package of deli ham for supper tonight. I opened it a couple of days ago for ham and cheese sliders (those were so yummy) so I need to either freeze the rest soon or incorporate it into supper.
Lunch today (hubby is telecommuting) is a chuck roast I cooked in the crock pot with teriyaki marinade. Asparagus. Cream cheese bagel.
Music....hope my Ipod shuffle is more lighthearted today.

Friday...and Texas has joined the state level executive order level. Not much different than the things we already had been given by our local authorities with the exception of "essential employees". Please keep our son in your prayers as he continues work at a UPS distribution center. Freight has to move. Medicine and supplies have to travel.
Today I'm grateful for...starting my daily gratitude thought....the rain we have this morning. Tree pollen has been really high here for weeks and it's supposed to temporarily wash some of it away.
I'd also recommend Nextdoor to anyone who doesn't already subscribe to it. It's both an app and a website www.nextdoor.com and it's people in your neighborhood who can communicate online with only people in your neighborhood being able to view the conversations. Official folks (like your mayor, city health officials, police dispatcher, etc.) have limited access to your neighborhood group. It's where most of the local information about the virus has been most quickly posted and updated. You sign up once. It's free. It's lightly moderated (no profanity, things like that). Lately people in our nextdoor neighborhood have found it helpful to know which grocery stores restocked overnight. I've been using Nextdoor for a couple of years. Not usually a really active place but when there's a city council issue it's been the easiest place to resolve it with our council member also being in the Nextdoor neighborhood.

Saturday and today I'm grateful for naps. I've been taking them in late afternoon for the past few weeks and while I don't always sleep it feels wonderful to stretch out and tune out for an hour. I'd highly recommend naps. : )
