Tuesday and the morning news says we've passed the 5,000 confirmed cases mark in the Houston metro area. The more local news (our suburb) says that an employee at the HEB nearest our house is infected.
Onward we go.

Saturday ...and Governor Abbott had a live press conference yesterday on the steps to reopen Texas.
He put 3 executive orders in place yesterday.
He set up a strike force of medical and business professionals and on April 27th there will be further details on what will open next.
For now, state parks reopen on Monday. Face masks will be required. Social distancing must be observed and no groups larger than 5 unless they are family members who live together.
Retail to go will open in the middle of next week. Businesses will bring your orders to your car or can deliver.
Since there are now supply lines in place for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for medical professionals, non emergency medical specialties can now resume diagnostic testing (though they can't request the state provide them with more PPE).
The Medical Center in Houston (picture I posted on this thread earlier) has seen a 7% decline in COVID cases in the past week. We aren't yet at peak resource use but beds are available and the curve continues to flatten. Texas has had the second most recoveries of any state.
Nonessential jobs with low personal contact will be some of the first businesses to reopen.
Reopening has to be based on medically based information. I read somewhere where people wanted to reopen large venues (like sports arenas) and I don't see how social distancing would begin to work in such packed venues. This is all going to be a process.
Mandatory quarantines for anyone flying in or traveling in to Texas are still in effect.

Wednesday and they think Texas is past peak death for the virus. Governor and Strike Force are working on safety measures businesses have submitted for for reopening their business/industry.

Thursday and there was a terrible tornado north of Houston yesterday. It stayed on the ground for a hundred miles and was tracked on radar for two hours. Be safe.

Hiya Jane, Are you feeling better? Jolene
Jolene, thanks for asking! Not really! For some reason I'm still having some pain. I'm suppose to see the doctor if this terrible virus ever goes away so it's safe to get out,

Jane,
I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.
I've restarted my allergy shots now that things are opening up again. Since they'd been paused I have to rebuild again so twice a week for 3 weeks and then I'll be back on maintenance again.
My doctor requires face masks to enter the building, a temperature check when you sign in and a questionnaire everytime you go. It's pretty simple...does anyone in your neighborhood have the virus, anyone in your family, anyone you know, have you traveled over 10 miles, where did you travel. There is hand sanitizer all over the place...at check in, at check out, at shot check out. All the staff are masked and gloved.
Are you doing okay on supplies? Do you have masks? I could send you some or send you a message on where they are available for purchase (and in stock) online.
Miss you.
Jolene
