Sunday and I'll join Dolly Parton in saying we will always love you. Kenny Rogers died.
I'll do Kenny music today on my radio thread.
Today I'm grateful for youtube and being able to watch my usual church service live this morning. It really lifted me up.

Monday and today is the last day possible to get my allergy shots without going off my maintenance schedule. I called my immunologist's office late last week and talked to the PA. It's less risky to stay home and delay my shots than it is to go to the doctor's office and get them. They are still seeing ill patients everyday and we have had community spread for a while now. So delay it is.
The first confirmed case of the virus in Texas outside those in quarantine from Wuhan was two miles from our house. We got it early and now have four people who have been through the cycle and have recovered. Most people recover in two (mild case) or three (not as mild case) weeks. Several people in my neighborhood are pretty sure they have it also but have been unable to get a test. That's starting to change.
I don't want to be negative though and I'm hoping the malaria drug plus Z-pac treatment which is showing good results in people being treated with the combination of those two drugs is as promising as everyone hopes. Both are generic drugs which have a long treatment history...just for other things.
Tomorrow will also be the 4 week anniversary of me self-quarantining.
I've mentioned that I'd been screening people for food at a food pantry for years. I love the folks so much. Last December I woke up one morning and, unexpectedly to me thought I shouldn't be doing this now. I ignored that for a bit but it was a persistent thought and wouldn't go away. So I gave my notice and haven't been going to the pantry this year. Now, of course, they don't even screen people because of how much you physically interact in a small office with dozens of clients each day. They still are open for their clients but there aren't any chairs to sit in in the lobby, a limited amount of people are allowed in the building at a time, clients never touch the food carts and they are sanitized between each trip outside and everyone is gloved. Clients received an enhanced small order and instead of having large orders available. To all those I love who are still on the front lines of this fight, you are my heroes.
To all the folks everywhere who are still on the front lines of this fight, you are also my heroes.
Stay safe. Be well.
Time for music.

Tuesday and spring is definitely here. It's 87 degrees right now.
I see the Opry live link disappeared where I'd posted it on this thread a day or so ago. I figured it would. They take down copyright infringements pretty fast. I went ahead and deleted the post since the music isn't linked anymore. Still am glad that Brad Paisley, Vince Gill and Marty Stuart did the Saturday night Opry live and without an audience so the circle was unbroken.
I see Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are feeling better after their bout with the coronavirus. Good news indeed.
Not much news here. I pulled everything out of my cupboards and freezers (which is easier every day) and made it all organized and lined up in neat little categories.
Grocery stores continue to be restocked (or so I read on Nextdoor) and Walmart is still doing grocery pickup. They seem to be limiting people to a maximum of two of everything. I've heard rumors that bathroom tissue is here and there.
Who knew that the easter season would have us hunting for t.p. instead of easter eggs.

Wednesday and we've joined the ranks of the shelter-in-place folks. We're worried about my sister-in-law and brother-in-law in the NYC 'burbs. They are at home and waiting it out.
This clip from the Carol Burnett show is popping up on youtube. It's the toilet tissue skit. : )

Thursday...and good news on the virus front. The original coronavirus test required a medical professional to insert a swab up your nose and into the back of your throat to get a test sample. The new virus test allows medical professionals to hand you a kit which includes a swab that only goes up your nose and then a tube to drop the swab in after you've done that. It'll allow more drive up testing and less exposure for everyone. Before if someone sneezed or coughed while getting a test there was more exposure to everyone.
The second good news of the morning is that on Sunday Governor Cuomo (New York) said that those needing hospitalization in his state would double every two days. With the new data, after the shelter in place, on Tuesday they changed that number to doubling every 4.7 days. It's a positive trend.
Today it's supposed to be 90 degrees here. Definitely want to have the heat destroy the outer cell structure of the virus on outdoor surfaces.
Good trends ....and I hear that toilet paper is reappearing in stores more and more. Now it seems it's hard to find flour. Seems as if more people are baking bread at home.

Friday...and at least 23 sailors on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt are infected with the virus. She's fully loaded and has been in the Pacific. Fully loaded is 5000 sailors and marines. Hubby was on the Teddy for the first 5 years we were married.
I don't know if you've ever been on an aircraft carrier but pretty much everything is communal. Unless you are an officer you have a rack (bunk) with a curtain that closes. You go up and down steel ladders to get from place to place. You dine with 5,000 other people in the same mess hall. There are individual stalls for showers but everyone uses the same ones many times a day...or every other day...depending on the ship's ability to process water. There is no real chance for social distancing on a carrier. The flight deck is full of planes and it's dangerous up there anyway.
They'll probably have to test all 5,000.
Dang.

Sunday and online church for us until....not sure.
Good news. On Friday Abbott was approved for a new coronavirus test that works with existing equipment (which is about the size of a toaster) that analyzes swab samples. A positive result will show up in 5 minutes and a negative one in 13 minutes. They can manufacture 50,000 tests a day.
This is huge for all of us but especially those who work in medicine and who won't have to be quarantined for 14 days after possible exposure.
Now as soon as they find a way (and it's coming I'm sure) to test to see who has had the virus and has antibodies then those people can return to regular activities and we will have the beginnings of herd immunity.
May your Sunday be filled with good news and great music.

Monday and we lost Joe Diffie to the virus yesterday. He was 61.
Our Governor has said that there will be national guard at our airports here in Texas to meet people arriving from out of state to make sure they quarantine for 14 days. People are fleeing NYC and other heavily infected states. Florida has had a real problem since so many retirees traditionally move from NY to Florida anyway.
Here in Texas our law enforcment will be pulling over people with out-of-state tags to question them and see if they should also be quarantined for 14 days. NOLA (New Orleans Lousiana) is shut down. The French Quarter is empty except for the rats who no longer have the dumpsters to eat out of and who are running the streets by the dozens looking for food. They are putting out rat bait/boxes on the sidewalks and in the street gutters.
Peak infection is now supposed to be in two weeks. Another month (April) of social distancing for all of us.
They closed Galveston beach now. Too many people from nearby towns/cities decided to go there.
Beginning today (son says) there is stepped up enforcement for even people with in-state tags who may be out on the roads. He's been told to always carry his UPS employee ID to show that he's an essential employee and needs to go to work.
Everyone stay safe and be well.

Tuesday...and the official channel for the Opry circle now has the live Opry performances posted. The first two are last week and the week before. The third is the link for Stand Up Nashville Livestream scheduled for tomorrow (April 1st) evening. Live events will often have a placeholder so you'll already have the link when they do go live.

Hi Jolene!
I've been homebound ever since the last of December. Everytime I would eat anything at all it would burn my stomach which I just knew I had an ulcer and sure enough I did and along with it an infection. I'm a lot better, but still not quite back to normal yet. I was put on some really expensive medication.
It's a good thing I'm a homebody since we're having to stay in now! Our son and his wife have been doing our grocery shopping for us. They told us they don't want us getting out!
Hope you and your family are staying well. Will be so happy when this virus thing is over. I thought the flu was bad, but this is really something else!!!

Hi Jane!
I'm glad you are a lot better. You just keep letting other people take care of you until you are completely well.
Your son and wife are right. Home is where you should be.
I know I'm really glad to be a homebody now. I started staying home in February.
Do you have a lot of little lizards this year at your house? Some years I hardly see any. Other years I'll see a few. This year I just see them everywhere. My hubby said there were three on the back porch post at the same time the other day.
